I stated clearly that I can use PayPal anywhere else already.

That's why that form asking for a credit or debit card should not appear, if I don't need a CC or DC to pay with PayPal for Eve.

So what do you expect of us other then the information that we don't have this problem and in fact can pay through paypal without having a creadit card?

Create a support ticket or ask paypal where the problem is (which you refuse to do).

Get a paypal business debit card. The conversion to a paypal business account is free and will give you an actual credit card number that directly debits your paypal balance.

I am having the exact same issue. I can NOT add game time to my account/s from my paypal account. It Keeps asking for CC or visa debit of which I never used. My Bank account is linked to paypal, I also have funds in my paypal and yet I keep getting asked for a CC/visa debit. This has never happened to me before, for anything I purchased over paypal. Including Eve..

@Dekker

Just so I'm reading that correctly - you have your bank account linked to paypal - which is usually done via a card, so I have to assume this has been done already as you're telling us you've used it before - I'm guessing here and elsewhere too?
And it still works on other sites that are not EVE?
And you've clearly verified your bank account (the bit where paypal sends minor cash amounts to your account for you to register on your bank statement) because of prior use.
So...

Okay this still only appears to be affecting a select few.

Questions that need answers:

Is it localised to a specific country/state etc?
Have you tried being logged in to your normal paypal account in a seperate window/tab while making your game time purchase?
Are you willing/unwilling to purchase plex as a temporary alternative?
Have the changes to paypal affected when/where/how it displays the login screen to you?
Have you tried doing this via a different computer (or mobile)? Is this issue specific to your computer, or generic to your EVE/Paypal account?
Would a simple reboot clear it up?
Or possibly clearing/deleting cookies and cleansing browsing history?

Or in short, what is different between you and me? I've covered my details in a previous post (without breaking rules or sharing private personal info) so you already know I've got my paypal and bank account linked via a visa debit card, which clearly works, and it got verified too.

CCP has changed the payment web pages, but they still work for me, so again what makes that different between me and you, as I have the same CCP payment pages as you? Is there something we are doing/not doing?

Ultimately if none of the above helps/gets you in the right direction, frankly the best thing is to petition it.
There's only so much tech support we can throw at you, and there's only so much information you can share, and we can't see the logs on CCP's end.

Jack

Yes my paypal account has been active and verified since 2008/2009.

I have a bank account added to paypal, when I need funds I add them to paypal and within a few days there in my paypal funds as money, of which I use to purchase items from gaming sites (game time). I still have receipts from CCP of older game time purchases.

Last month I purchased some station cash from SOE (now daybreak games) and had zero problems. Today I tried adding game time to Eve and ended up here. No I didn't try clearing my web cache/cookies, but I will tomorrow and try again.

The people replying in this thread are literally cancer. You obviously don't understand the situation, so telling the OP to try harder is pointless.

I'm experiencing the same prompts. My PayPal account has been used to buy game time from CCP for years, and I do not have a CC linked to my account. I have my bank account directly linked to PayPal. When I buy game time, I tell it to debit the $14.95 directly from my bank, and it has worked flawlessly until now. They have changed the way it works, and the screen now prompts me to input a Credit Card in order to proceed. I do not get the option to pay with my bank account, like I have for YEARS previous to this.

I haven't yet bothered to add a credit card to the annoying prompt to see if the next screen would allow for me to use my bank account, like I have done time and time again for numerous accounts. I do not want to add a card to PayPal, as I've always been perfectly capable without it.

You either have to be logged in on from another screen already, or make sure you're logged out and log into paypal through eve online. One of those two methods works if you have money in the acount.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

I have tried just about every method. I EVEN called paypal via phone. Paypal said that it was a merchant error, I assume they ment (CCP).

Just to refresh.

1. I have my bank account linked to paypal. I ADD funds to my paypal via paypals website, This method takes a few days for the funds to show up in MY WALLET in paypal. The reasoning I do it this way is cause adding funds takes a few days and I like the security of it. I can monitor my paypal better.

2. I HAVE enough funds in MY WALLET in paypal to cover Eve's fees, In my case I want to get a 3 month purchase.

3. When I select the paypal option from EVE's site for my transaction.. and have to login to paypal to finish the buy, I get asked for a credit card/visa debit. This has never happen before, usually the transaction goes through and funds are take from MY WALLET in my paypal account.

@ Dekker Thanks for biting the bullet and doing the legwork on your end.
Eliminating the debit card thing, the only thing that now remains is to drop a bunch of Billing Petitions on CCP.

I had a similar problem when I first started, but I went the card route - I kept using my visa debit card and forcing CCPs payment window to think it was a visa credit card - which worked for me, but won't for you due to the way you're managing stuff. Ergo, you're going t have to petition CCP to add the extra payment methods to their paypal options.

They should be quite accommodating - especially to someone who is actively looking to give them money (I mean, seriously, how many businesses do you know who turn down paying customers and turn away money like this? Lol ).

When I was a complete newbie, they kept extending my trial account every time I chased them to fix their paypal - they were really quite nice about it (and for me it meant I got to train two races up to cruiser rather than one - yes I played as a trial account for 3 months or so!). They had it resolved by the end of that year (and I had a visa debit card anyway). I don't know exactly how long it took them to fix it because right around then I had my exams to deal with (I was 18 at the time), so I left the game for a while.

If you give them a full history of absolutely everything you've tried - and be as detail crazy as possible, within legal limits. And I mean to the point of overloading them. The more details they get, the more stuff they can eliminate before getting to the solving of the problem stuff, the quicker they'll actually fix things on their end.

The fact that you actually went as far as calling up Paypal will pay off here, because you can detail that to them. Make sure to really belabor this point if you have to. You probably won't - again, you're looking to keep playing, and thus keep paying them money, so frankly they're more likely to thank you for this, than anything. Smile

I petitioned CCP as well. My account lapsed in the mean time, so I eventually just added a CC to PayPal, which I didn't want to do, just to get past the prompt. The next screen asked what payment I wanted to use. It gave me the option to use my bank account, which I've always used, but only after I fed them a Credit Card number first.

So, I'm going to remove the credit card and hope this is resolved by next month.

Hi Fokes!

The forums are not the place to get help with this. The only people who can help you are the billing GMs in this case. Please if you are having problems file a support ticket and a billing GM will help you out as quickly as they can.

Thanks!
