Is it worth it to loot (with MTU) on level 4 missions?

Hi.
Ive come back to eve from a long break and found out that there is this thing called mobile tracking unit and its like a tractor beam on steroids.
So after trying it out I cant really say that the time it takes after every npc is dead and every wreck is looted is more worthwhile than flying to do the next mission. Mind you I'm flying a dominx and with my average skills I get about 650 dps(MJD fit).

So what do you guys think?

Arrive in site
drop mtu
kill everything
scoop mtu
leave

Don't drop mtu after killing everything, that's wasting time

I do drop MTU on arrival, yet it never finished looting long after everyone is dead.
So it like

Were the wrecks it never looted within its range?

So what? I see that you seemingly don't want to wait till the MTU is finished because you're in a hurry to start other sites. Simply recover the MTU (and its content) when your done. This only gives you half the loot compared to waiting out the MTU. But half the loot is definitely better than no loot at ll without the MTU.

I usually have multiple MTUs. Run a few missions and come back for them all later.

This. If you are in a calm area you can drop MTU in each pocket, make a bookmark and use some extra ship to pick them all up on the end of the game time.

I also use Dominix and in some missions the gate is far away to the MTU drop point. So it is easier and quicker to just book mark it and come for it later, after mission is done. Though I must admit I lost few of them that way cause I forgot them ;)

I think it's personal preference on whether you enjoy looting/salvaging. Most players who are focused on maximizing isk/hour seem to ignore it after all the nerfs (except for particular missions or high value battleships) because they concentrate on the LP.

Loot value is crap. Only drop a MTU and salvage if you want to do it for roleplaying. Otherwise, concentrate on finishing your missions optimally and moving on.

To loot / salvage that is the question.
And the answer is it depends on you and what you want.

Max ISK and LP per hour will always be had by blitzing missions. This site has excellent information on the requirements to blitz every mission if it is possible. Besides it is just a great tool for all mission runners.

Loot / salvage can add a significant amount to your mission income (doubling it in many cases) but it is a personal decision if that extra is worth the time and efforts.

If you are going to use the MTU I agree with having multiple of them, drop one in every pocket and book mark it.
After your mission session is over change into whatever ship you want to use (noctis is best with cargo hold expanders you will need them) and fly back to the bookmarks scoop MTU and salvage wrecks.

If you have multiple accounts then training one for max salvage skills is another option.
One progress through the missions and the mission while the salvage alt is clearing out one pocket behind, or one mission behind.
Many mission runners I know use the time to salvage the pocket as a cap / shield / armor re-charge / repair break.

It's free money. Drop MTU and launch salvage drones in a pocket. When the pocket/mission is finished, pull in the MTU and drones and leave. There's no need to hang around and loot/salvage every single wreck.

There's also a looting/salvaging service you can use, but I can't remember their name.

But if you leave your MTU all by itself to salvage, and I am in system, and I am bored; I will blow it up.

IMHO the MTU is best used on a Marauder. Otherwise its just more efficient to come with a properly fit noctis and scoop up the whole mission in minutes. Marauders dont generally need drones so they can salvage drone salvage and MTU loot at the same tme, and then help at the end for the last few wrecks. Regular BSs dont get a tractor bonus so it makes salvaging and looting in them a pain.

best part about MTU is that it automatically loots everything inside 2500m, meaning I don't have to open and close every damn wreck.

that said most loot is garbage and I tend to collect very little. get bored of sitting around to loot a metal scrap, or mod worth nothing.

If you collect tags to get stuff from lp store, then looting is worthwhile. Use mtu, and either wait, or bookmark and come back.

This is the way to do it. Same strategy applies for ratting in null.

As for the general question, certain rats are worth looting. Some aren't. Guristas and Angel Cartel - worth it. Serpentis and Sansha - hit and miss (mostly miss). Blood Raiders - never.

That's the reason why the MTU is working very slowly. It tractors(the cheap version anyways) at 1k m/s. So say you Jump 100 km in a direction, rats are now between 60-90 km(for easy math) and you start popping them. That's 1-1.5 minute for EACH wreck it needs to bring to itself.

As others have said, just bookmark it/time stamp it and come back later(within 2 hours) to salvage/loot.
