Your right we should take all the mean stuff in eve and float it down the river of tears that has been created by people that cry about dieing. Hear is one fact that may upset you carebears. EVE would not be still in business if they did not allow people to shoot each other.

I really don't think thats true. I would happily pay double for a PVE version of Eve. Balancing a PVE server would be cake. Add more NPC's and keep cranking up their difficulty until you got a stable economy. Hell you could even have random NPC fleets attack POS's and any other player owned or operated structure.

They did the "better AI" thing with Sleepers, and Sansha. At first, people screamed that the new rats were too hard. CCP told the players to HTFU, and didn't touch anything with the "difficulty". Fast forward a few weeks and everyone knows how to fit against the sleepers or sansha now.

As has been stated already, the whole premise in EVE is Player v. Player interaction, be it combat or the market or ship spinning (which I fail at, only have 1024 as my personal high score. It's embarrassing, reallyOops). Yeah, it means that there are instances where you get kicked when you're down ... but it also means that you can come out on top.

If there's no PVP allowed, well, the market will be removed too. You'll sell veldspar to NPCs for 3 ISK/unit, and buy trit at 1 ISK/unit (or whatever the base values of the minerals in the DB are). Whatever it is you built with that trit will then be sold back to NPCs, because selling to other players isn't allowed ... because you'll undercut the other guy by 0.01 ISK to make a sale faster. By undercutting that other guy, well.. you just made the game less fun for him.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Stated yes, but is it true ? Where exactly is this a pronouncement on the true function and purpose of EVE the Game by CCP ??

I missed THAT memo.

IT"S A SANDBOX.

There are ways of playing and things to do that would require absolute silence and NO interaction with other players at all for YEARS. Avoiding the Market and Contracts would be idiotic, so I guess one would have to interact there, but that is not exactly personal.

Also, I don't think the person you responded to was implying a completely PvP free EVE. I certainly would not want that. I believe the implication is PvP-Free Areas of SOME nature. That's all.

Ironically, Chribba MAY be the only one playing EVE properly from the aspect of determining one's own gameplay and following through with unwavering longevity !

You are not restricted by predefined character classes or professions. You can trade to make a living, conduct mining operations, market your fighting skills as a mercenary, camp the spacelanes for profit as a pirate, conduct espionage and infiltration, focus on research and manufacturing, or perform increasingly profitable missions for NPC (non player controlled, run by the EVE system) agents. What you choose to do day by day is up to you. You can play alone, form a corporation (equivalent of clan or guild) with a close group of friends or seek entrance to any of the large player run corporations and alliances already established.

from here --> http://www.eveonline.com/faq/faq_01.asp
OK, so not *everything* they list is directly PvP (I'm looking at you missions) ... but the rest of the stuff is based on player interaction. No player interaction, and you can't trade or be a merc, or a pirate, or spy. Sure you could mine, research, or manufacture ... but without trading the stuff on the market, it's pretty pointless to do that stuff (within the confines of the "pointless" activity that playing a game is).

If you want more specifics, The Butterfly Effect seems to pretty much flat out tell you that player interaction is the thing to do. Also, the Causality trailer touches on it too...

what are these things that one could do in eve with absolutely zero player interaction for years? Regardless of the fact that contracts or the market are impersonal, a scammer can still nab someone. You wouldn't have scams if there was no player aspect to the market or contracts.

The CQ is PVP-free Lol

Takes MONTHS to get into a Hulk, and Gankers can POP in DAYS.

Training time doesn't justify making ships less vulnerable.

Stop dragging the topic all over the place with flame baits and otherwise idiotic comparisons to RL and other BS.

Stop trying to convince goons why easy cheap ganks are wrong. It is CCP that you want to present a clear solution to and I have done that. Multiple times.

HULL HP INCREASE!

Test it on Sisi. Find what works best! Anybody have some rough calculations on how much Hull HP would be needed with a 50 percent ommi resist? (Damage control) To survive a 95M or so Tornado Or Oracle fit for the average hisec system?

Percentage stacking doesn't really work for a Hulk. 25% of sweet **** all is still sweet **** all. They do have shield bonus and several mid slots but you can't buffer the shield because you don't have the cpu and powergrid to support it. Hulk has 35 PG, Large extenders require 150-165 PG each.

Just checked, you can support smalls for buffer. You will get around 1200 more shield and thats about 25% of what you need to buffer an alpha fit.

Yep, i am hopeless carebear, i feel bad for attacking someone who did not do any harm to me on an personal level. On an alliance/corp level it doesnt really matter since i am just part of the pack. More people means less human.. Just another number in the fleet.

you can get 30k EHP out of a hulk, but it means that you have to give up yield, suck it up and deal with it

One of the best things about ganking is that while you can do it with friends you can have just as much fun solo! If you don't want to be part of the pack you don't have to be.

Try it...you'll like it. The first time some loser threatens RL violence because you killed his mining ship pixels and you get his account banned you'll thank me.

Don't know it is bit boring after 3 4 5 times same thing over again there are no twists and with proper planning ther results are predetermined .

But people like to hit pinatas ...

And ganking is exactly what that is. with the difference that the rat is piloted by a player. about as much risk and about as fun.
