The Scope has a new video on the Drifters -- YouTube

So, I have a theory.

I believe the Drifters are Sleepers. I know, it's shocking, no one else has though of it. But here's the catch.
I believe the Sleepers aren't Sleepers anymore. I believe The Other has fully taken over, and the Drifters are Sleepers that managed to escape the Construct in time.

Now we believe The Other was involved with the "return" of Empress Jamyl Sarum, potentially making her a puppet. Additionally, there has been theories that The Other was involved with the return of Sansha Kuvakei.

When the Drifters were just about to expose themselves, there was a report in Null about a Sansha Incursion fleet leaving my gates rather than by their WH's, likewise, in the new WH's there's a massive battlefield where it looks like they got spanked.

If the Sleepers woke up, and mean to oppose The Other, they would be fielding ships only slightly less powerful than the Jove (assuming that Sleepers stopped actively trying to improve their outward tech after splitting from the Jove), that would explain their cruisers having such high power. It would also make sense that they would be hostile towards those controlled by The Other.

The Jove, in the meantime, likely having had contact with the awakened Sleepers would go onto high alert. They can mop the floor with us, but Sleepers aren't so far removed, an attack by The Other on them would likely be a much harder fight for them.. assuming they can block WH's in their space, and now shutting down the gate system, they have effectively cut themselves off from the threat (for now). Failing to secure help from the Jove, or not getting enough, they might then have been the ones to expose the Jove Observatories, which were left in Empire space before the Sleepers split. They could use these to gather intel on who might be working with The Other, in addition to just gaining information as to the current state of the Empires, and what has transpired since they entered The Construct.

As for Seekers, those could be standard Sleeper tech that the Awakened Sleepers/Drivers have control over.. hence them acting differently toward us than normal Sleepers.. unless we **** them, off, then we get face stomped. Or not, as the case my be.

TL;DR.

Drifters = Awakened Sleepers freed from the Construct.
Seekers = Sleeper Tech under control of the Drifters, not connected to The Construct.
Sleepers = Now under full control of The Other.
Amarr = Buddy Buddy with The Other, as such enemy of the Awakened Sleepers.
Sansha = See Above.
Jove = Want no part of this coming conflict, have cut themselves off fully.
Jove Observatories = Shutdown and tapped into by Drifters to gain Intel.
Us = Oh Shi.... Clone Activated.

Anyway.. that's my theory..

Yes, but the Sleepers entered The Construct after the end of Jove Second Empire, when the Jovian disease rose, so before AD 22000, and the oldest message we got is from AD 23121. We can't assume that the Observatories were working 1000 years before. It's not impossible but we have no proof.

Fair point, but even so, it is still Jovian Tech, it's likely the Sleepers would be able to detect it, and tap in/shut it down. Hence their interest in it. If they were closely tied to the Jove, they would be repairing it, or destroying it to keep it out of our hands. If they were normal every day Sleepers, they wouldn't care as it's outside their WH.. If they were The Other, then they wouldn't be putting such numbers into Amarr space.

Next, could we get your theory on why they decided to size the individual toilet paper panels the way they did?
Thanks in advance!Big smile

There just isn't anything that can be said!

ok heres my 2 cents on this topic.

There will be spoilers ahead for the novel Templar One so don't read if you don't want to get it spoiled

When the amarrians went into WH space to harvest sleepers bodies to make Dust bunnie clones, the "Souls" or consciousnesses became ( as described in templar 1 ) those dark things that were destroying the construct.

This is what "the other" wanted, but was stopped when we worked out how to make dust clones without doing it.

So If they fully managed to take over the construct it goes to reason that they are now trying to leave it, but they have no bodies.
If they were the actual sleepers reawakening then those ones would have bodies to return to.

So they began by using the automated or remotely controllable Circadians to search for the items they needed and to harvest bodies.

Once they got bodies they became the drifters we now face. Whether they are still what "the other" wanted them to be or if he can control them is yet to be seen.

What they actually want with antikythera is anyones guess atm though.

The reason they aren't openly hostile as yet is probably because they are still gathering their forces and getting their bearings, reacquainting themselves with the state of the universe.

the sleeper guardians were hostile because we were invading the areas they were set to defend just like big watch dogs :p

I was attacked by Circadians in the New Eden system earlier today, without provocation...

*Edit* Though saying that i had warped to the observatory while in system, so that might be it.
