I understand that a lot of Eve players are kinda shut-ins that never do anything that would require a plaster or disinfectant and didn't understand that, though. My main objection to the change is less that the old icon was great as that the new icon is meaningless gibberish that doesn't match the aesthetic of any of the other module icons.

I mean:

Active armor resist module: detailed drawing of a golden cloak, subtly shaded to reflect the resist type
EANM: same cloak/poncho, but bright silver with a fancy glow effect to show it's energized
Shield resist modules: 3d drawings of kite shields complete with emblazoned symbols reflecting resist type
Turrets: actual detailed drawing of a mechanically plausible turret

Damage control unit: ... undetailed cartoon plus sign. What?

I can't be the only one that feels like there's a huge clash in the visual design there.
It's not a poncho you silly, it's a helmet with shoulder protectors.Blink

Anyway, screw this. The new DCU icon could eventually stay, I just hope CCP will not decide to screw with other nice icons like the ones you just pointed out. But I can bet they will go like "What is an actual medival shield icon doing in our super futuristic space pew, pew game?! Let's make it more lore friendly, into a blueish blob thingy... something". CCP, please... no. OK?

Change is hard. I learned that early on but sometimes I tend to forget this fact. About a year or so ago I had a friend named George. We used to watch over the yard to make sure the squirrels were not gettin into the bird feeders. You see when a squirrel gets into a bird feeder they tend to eat everythin they can and then they just knock all the seed out of the feeders! Seed ain't cheep either. We chip in and buy a bag once a month. If squirrels get into it they waste it all very quickly. About a year or so ago I had a friend named James. We used to watch over the yard to make sure the squirrels didnt make their way into the bird feeders. It was an important job but now we have new feeders that are squirrel proof.

Anyways, my Grandson Norman will be here in a little bit. He's a good kid.

Yup that just about sums it for me too. Still I think you should try an see both sides of the squirrel situation. My wife Agnes god bless her soul did not see eye to eye to eye with me when I waited on the porch with the 22. nice an close to the bird feeders. Said "hoody your gonna have an accident with gun you mark my words" and well she was right and if I had just listened to her she would still be here today, but every cloud has a silver lining

I love petitions on gaming forum boards. They're almost as good as petitions to the principal in middle school!

There's actually a history of successfull rallying threads.

This, though, as it seems ...
... is none of them.

Who would have thought people actually agree with change.

Can't say it's not unusual ....
There were two specific incidents that have inspired wannabees to cast their lots. (History, eh?) There are also those who, internet wide, think putting "petiition" on something gives it some sort of authority. Of course, you didn't know any of this, right?

New icon. Great. Old icon. Cheesey.

Ring out the old. Ring in the new.

You can't squat in yesterday forever.

I don't think people realize how lucky we are as players of this game , we really actually have a say in what is good and bad. Please stop ruining it with stupid things like this petition.

We're lucky? We're customers who pay for a product. This isn't a charity. Customers always have a say in anything. Dollars are votes. Money talks. Etc. Why do you think monocle gate scared them?

We are lucky to have as much say as we do, not many products give the consumers the amount of leg room that CCP does. Yes this isn't a charity but you wouldn't complain about a logo change on a chocolate if the chocolate had a cockroach in it.

Think of CCP as a teenager that's trying to find its place in the world.
And we are the parents.
Choose your battles.

Actually branding is a thing and the reason companies update or change their logos to appeal to the crowd most likely to buy their product.

For small stuff like Eve Online that can create an echo chamber effect because only the people who like it stay and say they like it, while it can alienate other demographics of players entirely.

I actually had to look closely but there appears to be soem faux-circuitry in the blue pad/chip design. It still does clash heavily with all the other stuff. The briefcase didn't.

People talk about how eve is better than WoW. I still get one shotted undocking in a frigate if there's a WT thrasher outside. It looks eerily similar to getting one shotted in WoW battlegrounds by a x9 level player when you're x1-4 levels.

I propose a compromise:

Let's keep the new icon but officially change the name of the module from Damage Control to Suitcase.

Everybody wins.

CCP, Please bring it back. Not only is it a piece of EvE, the new icon is decidedly "meh".

I don't care, as long as when I press it, it does what it is suposed to do.

On a side note CCP this forum DOES need thumbs down and/or a polling system.

Yeah, I cant give you thumbs down for being against the thread.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices
