My guess is they are re-doing all the icons to fit "better" in the new interface look and they decided to test their hands on one they can be sure a lot of people use. Then they see how people react to it and can push the changes for the other icons following the feedback.

Seriously, you have to squint to just see what it is because the color is just too bright. Only reason I knew what it was is because I memorized where my damage control was at on my hud.
