Apparently you can use entosis links on jove observatories and they occasionally drop antykythera pieces and every time you link up with it it drops a gleaned information item that has background of the eve universe that the Joves apparently oberved.
Not yet confirmed if different regions yield different intel below are some entries from the logs:
(Too bad you can't link the items on the forum)

This makes me wish CCP would once again go back to doping logs with rats.. I like the idea of more integrated lore.

I take it this is either the Elder Fleet or that one minnie fleet that was butthurt to the Gallente Federation about the Ray of matar incident?

That's likely the attack on Amarr..

Just to add, despite that i was shooting at the sleeper rats at the observatory, when Henry activated his link the seekers warped off and did not come back. I cannot say this is connected but when i first approached it in a inty the rats aggressed me without provocation.

Maybe the point is to place them all in the right order however many there are and then a picture emerges.
Tried this a bit later and sleepers warped in and shot at me :(

Apparently if you use a super to activate it near a Jove observatory, something happens Blink

Tried this with a few friends last night, we recovered by my estimates 9 unique data logs between the three of us. I Also succeeded in getting the one that mentions my corp in it for the luls. They are, interesting just be warned that if a drifter spawns on you while doing this you cannot warp out, and have to sit through a 300s cycle time. Seekers and drifters will still agrees you based on proximity to the Jovian structure. Antikythera elements can be recovered from it but it is very very rare, I got 2 out of ten cycles. So that is very roughly 2 every 50 minutes.

But yes, those logs are very interesting. The oldest pre-date the YC system, and one appears to have a public speech by Sansha Himself. Very interesting lore tidbits.

Well, it's nothing special, as we know these things because it's our history. Some things were novelty to Jove perhaps, like ":-|".

only problem is they referenced static ded complexes which are no longer there... Suppose it wouldn't be hard to switch that over to the landmark system or something?

Well they could always drop new ones.. leave the old ones as collectors items, and add in new one for new things..

Hell would be awesome if they could be almost dynamic and real time.. you kill a rat, get a log, and it could mention a current attack on them by player X.. or that they just destroyed player Y's cruiser..

I know it's a pipedream, but it would be epic..

The problem with rats dropping logs including these ones, is that each different log is a unique database entry. Taking up as much database room as a module used by tens of thousands of ships.

Ya that's not actually an issue if Eve uses an efficient DB system. Static items are easy to deal with.. simply reading massive DB's is, with most type of DB's anyway, easily done efficiently on even very low end hardware.

Now if Eve uses a crappy DB system then that's another story.. but I doubt they do, given all the performance tweaks that have been made.

Besides, if CCP needed to keep the DB minimal, they wouldn't bother having literally thousands of entries for items not now nor ever available.
