[Call Out, Realism, Unit] Question about Realism EVE Players

Greetings, everyone!

I have a question that has been in my mind for some time. I've been looking into some Corporations In and out game as well, and I've noticed that there are some Corporations with traces of being military oriented, with players that have been in realism units in other games.

Those players know what I'm talking about and what I'm asking here is if you can answer this Call out, since I need the help of some of you for something game related. I can't advance more than this, for now.

What about you? Have you seen those kind of Corporations?

They usually start with their Unit's number followed by their Division Speciality as the image shows, and there is thousands of Corps like that in EVE.

If you are one of them please contact me trough this thread, via PM or In-Game at:

Not sure if what you're seeing is a case of "realism" or some kind of connection with any other game as simply just a very common naming convention. I imagine most folks will be as confused as I trying to interpret what you're seeking, but you've obviously found a lot of corps that have caught your eye and I think you're best to message them rather than hope they see this post, understand your very vague (no offence) request and go to the effort of contacting you.

Select the corp, look up it's CEO or the check it's details for a contact person, and send off a message. Smile

I agree with Candi. It sounds like you're trying to contact some secret society that may or may not exist. If it does, I doubt this is the best way to find them.

It's a common thing,
there's tons of military service men and women playing eve , usually in PvP Corps .

remember that people as a rule are crap at keeping secrets so if this was a thing I'm certain you wouldn't need to dig far to find out.

They're a real thing, it's basically RPers that go into random games to roleplay being in a loose allegory of a modern (well, usually more like 1980s, but whatever works for you) military unit instead of roleplaying the actual setting. Usually it's a sort of movie version of the US marines, usually a lot of the people in the societies actually pretend to be servicemen, and usually it's painfully obvious that few to none of them actually are.

Albeit, I couldn't tell you WHY this is a thing, but it is.

That said, assuming that every corp in Eve using a military-format name is part of this extremely specific nerd subculture is probably barking up the wrong tree, roughly equivalent to assuming that everyone named Robert is the reincarnated ghost of a US civil war general. They're named like that, generally, because they're either the PvP wing of their alliance (aka they're military in actual game role terms) or they're mercs referencing the real-world tradition of mercenary companies taking names reminiscient of their origin in old-world militaries.

I'd try the RP forums for that type of nerdery, OP.

Fascinating, thanks Greybeard Smile

I've been RPing for over twenty years and never heard of that before.

If it's what you've described, I'm reasonably certain he won't find it there either I'm afraid.

This is one of those things I love to do in games. I think the MMO aspect can break that third or fourth wall a lot, but there's merit in totally immersing yourself in a game. Most people do that for games like Wing Commander: Privateer, to get the most enjoyment out of it. Most of us do this automatically when we play something on our own. In some ways the social aspect of games today has degraded the play immersion aspect.

I look at it like this: Lots of people get bored from playing without this aspect. I know that when I've played games in the past without immersing myself in it, community games, what tends to happen is I feel like i'm in a fishbowl, the world seems small, and nothing seems to matter. Boredom ensues. However, if I step back into my place as a tiny individual in a vast world, things are fun again. They feel bigger, more epic, etc.

Just my 2c.

People talk about how eve is better than WoW. I still get one shotted undocking in a frigate if there's a WT thrasher outside. It looks eerily similar to getting one shotted in WoW battlegrounds by a x9 level player when you're x1-4 levels.
