Same here. I haven't installed a "pre-release" launcher, so assume that CCP have marked 2.2.871481 as buggy at their end.

CCP: Can you please post instructions for how to fix this without blowing away the DoD cache? Cheers.

Same.
Wow, have finally logged on. This has taken 3 hours. Just in time for the reboot Ugh
It's ssssoooooo ssslllooowwww. Running about 1/10 the speed of dial up. This is a joke.
Surely CCP, you will have a fix for very soon.
Can't wait for the reboot now, so I can start all over again. Yay.

Edit: Well, since being able to log in. The game is not longer playable. Nothing loads, well just takes an extremely long time.

My issues were solved using the Full Install option from the CCP download page. I spent 3 days trying everything to get it to work before figuring that out. If the download is EXTREMELY slow, cancel, it try again over and over. Eventually it should download at a normal speed. I dunno why, or how, but that's what I did and I have been playing EVE with 0 problems.

my issues are very similar.

Few days back, launcher started doing the offline-mode thing, and a few restarts would cure it.
Now, however, my launcher starts, shows me the server is online and the number of players connected, but its displaying
"Downloading updates 0 B / 0 B 0%" and my play button is greyed out. Upon starting the launcher, I get a white error pop-up with a "Start EVE" button on it, allowing me to launch the game directly, so still playable.

My worry is, in order to play past the 28th patch, am I going to need to download the entire client and start from scratch, because my launcher is clearly made by Ford motor company and is a useless waste of time lol

*UPDATE*

Not sure exactly what part of this fixed it, but my launcher is now problem free:

I set the launcher to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (Even though I am running windows 7 64-bit already).
I set the launcher to "Run as Administrator"
I set location exceptions in my firewall for the EVE folder

Can someone fix this piece of **** launcher?

I'v been back for 6 month, and i'v had issues maybe twice connecting. Ever since the big launcher update (i:e last month's patch), it's half a dozen issues per day if not more. What the ****?

Impossible to play via the launcher, it either lags out and crashes (or the fields to enter your username/password doesn't load) or just starts up offline.

I have NOT changed a SINGLE thing on my computer (drivers/settings/internet/etc) so it IS this crappy launcher that is causing issues.

I'm forced to launch the game via the CCP folder, which works, but i'm told i should not be doing that... So fix the ******* launcher.

Been around since the beginning.

I was having this problem, and then I ran it in Administrator mode and it worked. I don't know if I just got lucky or if this will fix the problem. Today was the first time it had happened to me.

Haven't had any issues the last couple of days but today...........I can log in but the play button isn't active on the launcher. Running my eve file as admin works though.

Pretty much like that for the entire day for me.

Yesterday it seemed to work fine after 4-5 days of constant issues...

So I have a simple work around that worked for me but it may not work for all.

Just bypass the launcher by going to your EVE/CCP directory > bin folder > and launch the game with the exefile.exe

This will launch the game and you can log in.

Hope it helps someone.

I have Windows 8.1 64 bit, when I log in the button is always greyed out and nothing happens so I leave if for a bit while I start my other computer, Windows Vista 64 bit. I note that the launcher on Vista sems to work OK, so I then do what Liza does, and launch the game from the exefile.exe and every single time the launcher suddenly springs to life, so this works for me.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

Have been experiencing all these issues myself as well. Have tried to use repair tool when it became consistent which somehow resulted in my having to download all 7+GB of the full shared cache again. (3rd time doing so now)

I ran the repair (delete) tool by mistake too, you may as well uninstall eve and start from scratch as run the delete tool, who ever thought of making the repair tool just delete everything is getting paid way too much.

It's about time it was made apparent when you run the repair tool that your cache is deleted and you have to either download 7 gig of **** you have already downloaded or play a clunky 1994 version of the game for a while.

I was getting the offline launcher happening and now I'm getting a pop-up telling me my computer is running a pre-release launcher, WTF.

Exactly! This is why I"m trying to re-install the game now, but I can't connect to even download it...
