Instead of the Save Fitting / .... put in a "buy this ship again" button in the KM.
I've looked, there are threads, but closed since it was very badly proposed or discussed: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5265639

How it works.
You get a DM (death mail :-) )
You go to hub
You go sit in the same ship, naked
Press the "fit and buy this fitting"
The system fits your ship with the items you have in hangar and then
... it propses the checklist of items you want to buy with the lowest buy price (in current station) and tick boxes for what you want and don't want. no need to provide alternates of the modules, just a tickbox buy at that price or don't buy at that price. You click OK and the ship is fitted with drones/ammo/cargo/modules like it was the moment you lost it.

Thanks,

Hmm, this would be handy. However, what would also be handy is being able to buy a saved (or linked) fitting.

Maybe you could combine the two. Leave the "save fitting" button on the killmail, but on the fitting window add a "buy fitting" button. Then, when someone links you a fit, or if you lose a ship, you can go to Jita, click "buy fitting", click the "fit" button, and you're ready to go.

You could use a similar interface to the sell multiple items window, so you could look at the prices(and how they compare to the average) before you pull the trigger.

Or, you could spend the 20-30s it'd take to rebuy all the mods. If you find yourself replacing ships often, either buy in bulk or stop being bad at EvE.

The issue with your idea, at least from my point of view, is that it makes it very easy for people to get scammed over unrealistic prices. Having the game just buy the items is clunky, there can be some basic options like giving you a full price, but what if the one item is under priced at 20m and a low cost item is way over priced. Marketers would try and take advantage of lower priced items, and then sell over priced items that are commonly used.

On the surface it seems simple enough, it's just that a lot of working out the layout of the information a player gets back prior ot hitting the buy button is important, and even if you could find a great layout, the player is going to miss out on information about adjacent systems or even other stations in the game system that may be significantly cheaper for an item cost.
