For those experiencing the "Pre-release" message, we are looking into it. A couple of things that could help us track this:

1. If you are running 2.2.871481 of the launcher you should be able to click "Ok" and proceed. If that doesn't work, it would be good to know.

2. If #1 doesn't work for you, please post the error before the launcher log line:
 - root - selfUpdate - INFO - Best published version: None

3. If you don't see anything from #2, it would be good to know if the "Pre-release" popup consistently continues to happen.

Again, if you have 2.2.871481, your launcher is proper. This "Pre-release" pop-up is coming from a failed check to get the latest versions from our CDN, due to what might be SSL, but this isn't consistent for everyone, so there might be a regional issue here.

Let me know what you find!

I don't get the popup or the pre-release message so I can not click 'ok' to proceed. The launcher loads up with the play button greyed out and down the bottom it says 'Failed to download update for EVE Online Launcher'

still recieving the pre release popup but game will load everytime question: ive noticed alot of people said there using the steam version which is true for me to could this be part of the issue?

also steam seems to have a more dramatic indicator that it is not affiliated with eve online than it used to. Could it be there launcher platform is not interfacing with the new download on demand system properlly?

thank you for getting back to people about this CCP

Have you clicked the account managment settings and ticked the download all cache resources box yet? if not try that and restart your launcher and it should force it to download updated files

This works but what I would like to know is when there will be a solution. Is there not a place where you can just reload the launcher, would that not fix the problem?

I get this error, but I'm able to launch the client and login. I'm located in New Zealand. I connected through my UK vpn account and did not receive the error, so it does seem to be a regional issue.

I am in Australia and have been having the same "pre-release launcher" issues as above - however today I am unable to login :( I get past the pre-release, am able to login - and see the server status - but when I sign in and launch I get thi:

Tried on my laptop (same connection) and I get the same issue.

I wouldn't be surprised if Telstra (my ISP) has stuffed up, as they are generally useless!

This is the server connection message:

and my ping to same server info;

and a tracert:

I first encountered the 'pre-release' issue after using Singularity and then returning to the main Eve client. I'm running Windows 8 64-bit.

After running the 'repair' tool I use eve.exe to activate the client - when I do this I get version 2.2.871481 but when I enter the game it thinks I'm a newbie and offers me all the tutorials again and has wiped all my chat channels and overview settings.

If I revert to opening Eve from my desktop (the conventional method) I get version 2.2.871709 and the 'your running a pre-release EVE launcher' .... I click 'yes' enter the game with no problems and, behold, all my presets are intact!

From Australia. I'm also getting message. I can still launch the game after clicking OK. More annoying than an actual problem.

Win7 64 bit
Launcher Version: 2.2.871481

I discourage running with scissors.

Running 2.2.871481. Works after OK button on pre-release message dialog. In Australia.

Since ssl was mentioned, I can't see SKIN images at https://web.ccpgamescdn.com that are linked in the dev blog. Otherwise no https access issues.

So.... how are we supposed to update to MOSAIC on the 28th if we cant run the launcher because of a SSL issue that is no fault of our own?

As someone with this problem I thought I'd try this out. No change I'm afraid.

Initially I thought it might have something to do with my DNS servers (using google's, not my ISPs), so I changed it back to default. Not the problem.

Game runs fine if I click OK, so I wont be concerned until I get to the point where the game version is out of sync and I can't play.

Pertinent info is as follows: windows 8 64, running steam client. Not sure what else might be useful for figuring this one out. Feel free to send an email to my listed account address and I'll happily run some tests and provide feedback.

Same issue here - getting a pop up warning that "You're running a pre-release version of the EVE Launcher".

I am on v.2.2.871481 so can continue to run the game ok.

I generally only run the launcher when I need to apply a patch. Looking at the logs it ran ok on April 17th, then reported the warning above on the next run on April 22nd, and since.

The launcher version has not changed.

2015-04-17 18:47:40,661 - root - initialization - INFO - {'LauncherSettings': {'Launcher Version': '2.2.871481

2015-04-25 17:43:38,203 - root - initialization - INFO - {'LauncherSettings': {'Launcher Version': '2.2.871481

As you are already aware the launcher is getting an SSL error...

2015-04-25 17:43:39,036 - root - selfUpdate - ERROR - Received SSLError when attempting to download: '_ssl.c:504: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed'
2015-04-25 17:43:39,036 - root - selfUpdate - ERROR - [Errno 1] _ssl.c:504: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

Like some of the above posters I am in Australia, on 64 bit Windows 8.1. I don't use Telstra directly as my ISP, although effectively use their exchange hardware. Not sure if that makes a difference.
