Every now and then I here like a "Squeeelch tick tick tick" or something, lol. What the heck does it mean?

If it's when you enter a new system or undock, that's the overlay. All those (low resolution pixelated) green and red icons in space showing you where the points of interest are.

Sometimes I hear it when sitting in system for a long time, like exploring. Does it play when new site spawn or something?

There should be a rule against stupid-ass attempts to be funny in replies in the Q&A forum.

Edit: to actually be constructive I would hazard a guess at it being the sensor overlay ,
that thing makes all kinds of odd noises from time to time and it's almost never useful information ,
I generally don't register hearing it anymore.

I'm sure you can disable it in the advanced audio options* if it's bugging you.

Might be a mobile depot being deployed? I feel like they are always making odd squeaky noises when I warp on grid with them at market hubs.

Next time when you hear it, look at what your mouse-pointer is hovering over Blink

The "Squeeelch" is a spawned site of various types. Some need to be probed (red), others don't (green).

The "tick tick tick" is the UI.

That being stated, many play without sound, and this leads to the obligatory, "EVE has sound?" meme.

I've always thought it was one of the HD's in my tower going south...

Now I feel less nervous about my system...
