They've apparently already started rejecting logos for not being space emo grimdark enough, so it would seem they are going for "Skulls And Letters In Space" instead of interesting player content.

Forcing your devs grim-dark fetish on your playerbase? Disgraceful.

The main draw of eve is the sandbox, anyone can join and explore this universe. People can meet up and form corporations. Over the course of many years they may grow and form an alliance. They may take sov and build a real identity. You would think these players would be allowed create their own logo without catering to some devs personal artist vision?

These alliances are the main draw for new players, behind most logos there are years of player driven story. But instead of embracing the different cultures and identities, you chose to step on it.

Which would seem more interesting to you? Creative and diverse logos that represent the long story of player involvement. Or a bunch of grim-dark skulls and letters? Certainly not the latter.

As long as there are no legal issues, and nothing rude, anything should go.

They built the alliance, they should decide.

Kinda gotta agree with some of this, if you look at old ww2 planes they always put fun cartoony paintings on the nose of the planes, however it may be best to see what sort of logos get accepted and rejected before making proper judgement Cool

To be fair, there's a line between consistency and monotony. In the case of EVE Scout, grimdark fails to capture what they're about, and that's job #1 for a logo. Is Red Frog Freight supposed to look like a bunch of violent mercenaries? (Those are their mains! P)

Also, if there's a place where Comic Sans is nowhere to be found, can you really call it a dystopia? I'd move there in a heartbeat. I mean, it's even abused horribly by corporations! It's perfect!

More seriously, the grimdark-for-everyone policy rules out any number of dystopian options, from the Orwellian father-knows-best overlord with its slick, feel-good propaganda to the genuinely well-meaning but disastrous computer in Paranoia, to the once-good-but-corrupted institution that still wears the whites and the lions rampant that it chose when it was good. How about violent radicals who appropriate the banner of the much more moderate organization they are trying to overthrow? How about good-seeming front corporations, or innocuous laundering corps? Sisters of EVE, right? Isn't the Guristas skullbunny cartoony and silly? All of this stuff is already in game. Why can't we have it?

These are all academic questions to me--I've never spent a significant amount of time in an alliance big enough to qualify for a logo, and I'm not even in an alliance now. But in terms of the EVE Universe as I've come to know it, this seems like a bit of a straitjacket.

Oh, and there's the minor detail that I find grimdark absurd, and I find absurdity hilarious.

Eh, the logo we'll most likely be submitting is very space themed and non-cartoony. If it does get rejected, it should be easy enough to alter it and get it in. We'll find out in July when we're old enough :)

So I'm not being oppressed. I just think it's a dumb policy.

Every post from you in this thread that I've seen is just you complaining about people that are complaining because they have legitimate gripes. You don't actually have any relevant input.

Well, its begun. A five year old logo has been denied, but its a good thing that the name-brand alliances are (maybe) being grandfathered.

Actually I offered several posts of relevant input, but people were too busy running like chickens with their heads chopped off to
A) Think things through rationally and
B) Follow the instructions given to them by Fozzie to get actual answers to their legitimate gripes.

So rather than trying to be the soft breeze of reason, I decided to add to the storm of inanity that this thread has degenerated into.

To be honest, I keeping hoping CCP will post a final entry with the mailing address to send questions to their legal team (because I doubt anyone is going to go back through the thread looking for where I posted it), and then lock the thread. It's degenerated past the point of being of any further utility.

Funny enough, all of the Guristas cammo pallet colors are represented there (all three of them). And half of the know factions of EVE too!

I'm okay with this.

Let me allow to quote you something from the other thread;

"Cartoon images have a lower chance of approval, but if they are well produced, follow all the other requirements, then they will most likely approved."

So there we go with all your fears of cancelled nose-arts... c: Looks like you'll be mostly fine.
As for the logo that got rejected; It would be nice to include the reason why it was rejected. I could understand the chinese-fastfood-box with chopsticks wouldn't exactly what fits the eve universe, from their point of view. Other than that, I think the most of the alliance names posted previously look like they're have no problem.

There is one thing I'd like to point out though, with the entire "npc corporations are different" and all...
It is absolutely unrealistic that several different empires are using the SAME DESIGN STYLE of logos for their corporations and factions. Just look at the variety of logos on our planet Earth alone. They vary from highly detailed to flat-stylistic to abstract. Forcing logo submissions based on ship-skin compatibility to "drop out" of this context, only to be again overlayed with a watermark image that tries to get that grit on, doesn't quite cut it in my opinion.

If you try to look for proper immersion in the game, then please give us these options to blend into the environment c:
This is why I ask again to allow us a properly detailed 128x128 submission alongside the 512x512 flattened one for future ship skin additions. Please c: The concord star in the top right should be absolutely sufficient, and if we get the legal stuff right to allow license of use without dipping into the nebula of derivative works, all will be good c:

The fact that General Tso's Alliance's logo got rejected, despite that the content of the image does fit in with the Eve universe is a huge mistake. I don't doubt that there's discussion going on to sort this out but CCP seriously, stop before you create one big train wreck because that is where this is heading.
