Make Armor Plates Visible in-Space

This is a simple suggestion to add some armor plating to ship models in space if they have armor plates fitted.

Why? For all the same reasons that we have visible turrets/launchers and module effects. A visible indication of how a ship might be fitted not only looks awesome, but separates experienced players from younger ones in a good way instead of "you can't have as many SP as I do because you haven't been playing for as long as I have".

On a similar note, maybe shield extenders should have some sort of in-space model too? Not a permanently visible shield effect, but perhaps some "shield generator" hardware strapped to the hull somewhere.

Upvote for more detailed ship models in space! Big smile

Or you could just look at their velocity...

Or better yet just shoot them.

Extra server calls and an incredible amount of modeling, both mods and ships, all for a feature most would turn off soon after.

Could do it with textures only, I suppose.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

Realistically I think it would be unfair to only have armor plates get added to the models of ships and not have any other mid or low slot modules. Granted to do this CCP would have to once again, redo all the ships models in the game, but really they would just have to create more hardpoints much like they do for highslots and how weapons are fitted.

Would it be really cool if every module in the game had a model and they would be added to each ship that anyone could simply look at? Yes.

Is it very practical? No.

Bottom line for me, is that it would be awesome to see everything on your ship as it is fitted, however this would be a rather low priority for CCP to accomplish.

What if it's all internal? They add the armor inside the ship, at critical structural points and what not...

In that case you wouldn't see it. It's the future, with spaceships afterall P

Been around since the beginning.
