CCP is upgrading the NPC logic with the capability to scramble you, jam you, follow you in warp, detect you while cloaked, and other such goodies, and also giving the NPC's mini-titan-weapons, for teh fun.

And there's a lore story in the released dev blogs, stories, and videos about how we've mucked about in wormhole space and pissed off these new Sleeper / Drifter NPCs, forcing them to follow us into high sec and "end the threat" that we are. Or something.

Ironically the most efficient way for drifters to "end the threat" would be to simply lie low and wait till all capsuleers log out permanently because EvE is dying (tm). I hope no one tells 'em.

Someone mentioned that they are connected to sleepers, but I haven't done anything to sleepers. The only ones I've seen in the past few days were four Circadians camping a gate who completely ignored me as I passed by.

What would be really funny is that they allow Drifters to roam into lvl4 missions and Incursions to kill blingy ships.... I would stop doing lvl4s in this case Shocked

Risk would be too much (lots of ships around so you can miss drifter between them).
