During the Dust 514 roundtable at FanFest this year, CCP Rattati asked the community to come up with ways that the EVE lore could have more visibility in Dust.

This prompted me instead to think about what ways in which the presence of Dust players could have more visibility in EVE.

Using this same capability that CCP intends to introduce into EVE Online, when a Dust 514 player selects a battle, spawn his Personal Warbarge and have it fly to that planet to meet him.

Given how most Dust assets are made by Genolution, I would say the Warbarge should be the same, as this allows us to give it stats that wouldn't make sense otherwise via the combination of technology from many different sources.

The complete lack of offensive armament would be used as justification for the following:
1. VERY high shield recharge rate
2. VERY high shield resistances
3. EITHER Shuttle-like insta-warp OR some kind of "ECM Suite" that makes the ship impossible to lock combined with insta-warp
4. Very fast warp speeds

These ships would be effectively immune to attack from EVE players, but would serve as a constant reminder of the presence of Dust players in EVE.

Again, this has NO IMPACT whatsoever on Dust itself, and so requires no modification of the game on that end. It would obviously rely on the EVE art team producing a model for the Personal Warbarge.

It's pretty clear CCP still doesn't know where they're going in reference to Dust 514 or Project Legion, but if they were to actually make the switch to Project Legion, what I suggested would still apply.

the connection between eve and dust at this point is nothing but the remnants of when CCP tried to do something they just weren't up to similar to the CQ


all its serves in eve now is a way to get stupid amounts of LP and to have a random mach macing round undo the last 70+ minutes of work


had we gotten what we were promised with planetary installation like anti capital guns and upgrades.

hell even if they just made it so that FW pilots could hire mercs to attack planet X so there was some control over what planet was attacked it would be fine.

I forgot to post this before in response, but there's also the fact that Orbital Strikes currently drop 6000 LP per strike regardless of whether or not you hit anything.

A Coercer or Catalyst with 8 guns, warp core stabs, and hyperspatial velocity optimizers can make you a large amount of virtually risk-free LP. I got almost to 200k just doing a few hours a day occasionally during the recent Faction Warfare event in Dust.

Dust players don't change Local systems. Dust actually ignores what system you're deployed in entirely, which is something we've actually requested be changed over on the Dust Forums. The only Local you can ever have access to is the one randomly assigned to you based on your starter Corporation when you first make your character.

Right now we're starting up another thread on requesting that the new list-based system for selecting planets for Planetary Conquest be applied to Faction Warfare as well, because right now the big issue is FW in Dust runs on a queue system that just loads two teams of 16 up against each other as people come in. The Matchmaker isn't used, so who you end up facing and how the fight turns out is pretty much a total tossup right now. The only exception was the last week-long FW event where most of the high-tier players were running FW exclusively, resulting in pretty even matches.

This still doesn't fix the current problem of EVE players finding themselves at a disadvantage to capture a system they'd otherwise have because Dust keeps randomly dumping 2 squads of what is effectively Tech-II gear against a random mashup of people with Tech-1 gear.

Having a list-based selection of planets would at least allow us to better coordinate with players in EVE to be of assitance in capturing systems rather than an annoyance.
