New DCU icon - Make it round!

I guess I'm one of the few who actually likes the new icon for the Damage Control Unit. My only complaint is that the square shape of the icon looks odd when displayed in the round module slot.

(I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about CCP trying to force a square peg into a round hole.) :P

Consider chopping off the corners of the icon. Or add infinite corners. Whichever. I'll leave that up to you. Either way, I think it will make the icon look a lot better when displayed in the HUD.

EDIT: I've provided a crude mockup.

Be excellent to each other.

I kind of wish they would ditch the cross and go with something like a space wrench.

It would certainly make more sense, since DCU is not healing anything, but merely providing tweaks to attributes. Like car tuning.

Okay. I'm not a huge fan of the new icon. Though I wasn't a huge fan of the old one either. The blue of the new one feels out of place and the red cross in the center seems to contrast against it. Since the DCU is basically a passive module it would be nice if it faded a bit into the background.

Agreed.

The new icon is too much 'in your face' though... especially that red cross...

Tone down the blue, and get rid of that weird red cross... makes no sense...

Yeah great, you really do not care about your pilots with OCD right?

Leave my suitcase as it was and fix missiles and blackops instead !

But what was the pressing need to change it from the doctors handbag/suitcase icon anyways? The health-bar type of icon implies it grants you health...imho

Irk - yeah it is the red cross icon that is totally out of place on the DC icons, not the suitcase shape.

WTG CCP in keeping what's wrong about the suitcase and replacing what was iconic.

Ugh

In my opinion, the image of the briefcase makes even less sense in context of these massive spaceships. It's representative of an old timey doctor's medical bag, which implies addressing an ailment, or "healing". The module boosts resistances. It doesn't repair anything that is broken.

The red cross is a pretty ubiquitous symbol, though. It implies "aid", as opposed to "healing" specifically. And I would argue that it's far more recognizable for what it represents than the briefcase.

the cross needs to stay, because doctor's bag with cross is iconic for being the DCU.
If CCP would introduce a totally new symbol, it would have even less endorsement.

I like the round version, +1

Coming from other games a red cross is a symbol of healing, and a damage control does zero healing.
If you're going to change the icon change it for the better, don't just make it look a lil more "spacey" with the blue gfx.

I'd consider a muscley bicep arm encased in something to signify increased strength, but that may well look too much like the cyno fist. though come to think of it the fist isnt exactly that understandable as a cyno to newer players.

When i see a cyno in a system typically i think "well someones just announced their location in system to me, thanks!" rather than "oh well someones just been fisted."

... though i guess if its a well executed hotdrop someone may very we have, however i don't think its quite right to illustrate it officially with a fist.

I'd like to have a module icon skin in the NEX shop. Paying 500 AUR to get suitcase back.

since it will be a passive module from what i understand, can`t you just hide it like all the others passive mods?
