Carrier Ratting in Nullsec

So I run Havens and Sanctums in my carrier in nullsec, just was curious as to what everyone thinks is the best/ fastest way to clear the sites? Fighters for battleships and Battlecruisers and mediums for frigates OR using sentries the whole site. Any fittings would be nice as well, using a Thanny


EDIT: I assume fighters would destroy the battleships much faster but that doesn't always seem to be the case...they constantly miss the BS's and when they do hit they definitely do not apply near to their full damage potential. Is my fitting to blame or is this to be expected?

I never flown carrier myself but as a somewhat experienced drone boat user I would recommend a target painter in a mid slot, it would help.
Or a fed navy web or something for close orbiting stuff.

Perhaps try with fednavy omnis instead? They're pretty cheap. Also perhaps replace the dc2 with an Omni tracking link.

When the fighters are missing the battleships, is it perhaps because they're mwding into position?

buddy up with an ishtar using geckos, meds and smalls, carrier focuses on bs's and ishtar on the smaller stuff, my fighters only miss the first volley then the next 3 and the bs is down

The fastest? Nyx with fighters.
6k+ dps you dont even need a target painter cause you have to splitup the fighters into 5 groups and assign them to 5 different npcs.

I know someone that carrier rats with 10 accounts..

his liquid isk is now well over 300b

and all he uses in general are heavy drones. no fighters.

never have more drone speed mods than tracking mods.

their speed screws up their tracking, and fighters track poorly anyway.

Hi

- Drone Control Unit I x3

More DCU more DPS with max V each DCU brings you another ~ 200dps

- Drone Link Augmentor II x2


Not needed for Fighter but needed for sentrys

Mid

- Drone Navigation Computer II x3
Doesnt improve Tracking, makes it even more worse.
(possible increase in efficent to travel distance)

Suggestion:
1x DNC (could improve travel between npcs)
2x Target Painter (improve tracking - bigger Target easier to hit)

- Omnidirectional Tracking Link II x2 (Tracking Speed Scripts)
Needed and helps to improve hitting rate!



Low

- Damage Control 2 (can probably do without this)
- Capital Inefficient Armor Repair Unit
- Drone Damage Amplifier II x4

Warning Penaltie Level high!
the fourth DDA is not very effective.

Here you can go full DPS or some Tank to maybe get a fight with a nice neutral gang :)


Rigs

- Capital Trimark Armor Pump I x3

To imprive the hit rate you have some options for your drones:

Slow Target
Increase Sig of Target

Increase Drones tracking


Are there more stuff to help tracking?

Sentry's is the way to go, not flight time.

low - dc, armor rep and DDA's
mids - 2 x sebo, tp's and I fit a warp disruptor
high - 500w neut, smart bomb and dcu's... you can go with a triage, but if you have no help close by triaging isn't going to help you so you may as well put up a good fight.

rigs, polycarbon's, think that was them, help to get in to warp faster

... What next ??

i always use fighters, however they have trouble with the frigs, i found having an ishtar on site would clear everything faster, using sentries means you cant stay aligned

What's the advantage of using a carrier with heavy drones over an ishtar or domi with heavy drones?
The DPS increase seems minimal because it doesn't get any bonuses to heavy drones?

Yeah but it's only like an extra 100 dps... because you do more dps per drone in an ishtar for example

Yeah like 1 of the guys mentioned above, drop all but 1 of the drone navigation computers if they are missing BS. Mine pretty much hit, smash, or wreck every BS as soon as they've slowed to shooting speed, in other words 1 salvo after locking, the first salvo they are still slowing down and most either miss or glance off.

They'd always miss first salvo until I fitted a "capital drone scope chip" BTW using 3x t2 omnis with speed scripts. Want to try fed navy omnis.

For faster warp out from standstill, fit 100mn MWD and pulse it after giving the warp command, 10 seconds to warp from standstill give or take a second depending on if you have nano in the lows.

Should also point out the fighters were skynetting Amarr Templar, delegated to a pair of Paladin and then whoever in my ratting group could be trusted to not get my fighters killed.

It works the same after the skynet nerf except that working the carrier in anoms sux because my fighters only auto aggro 1 rat per wave, after that I have to manage them manually, makes ratting with 3 ships a bit of a schlepping, so now I'm using the carrier as a giant sentry Dommie, waaaaaay worse DPS from 14 t2 curators than from 10 Templar

I wonder if you used 7x Geckos instead of Ogre II if was better. Faster around 50-60% and also +50% more tracking.
You will have all high slots free to use something like Neuts or Smartbombs, Remote reps/shield trans etc in case you get tackled, so get out fast before gang lands on you.

Dmg: 4x 32 (OMNI)
Tracking: 0.85

Attention:
Only 7 Geckos can be used in this Setup to the limited bandwidth.
The Setup gives us an advantage as the highslots are empty.

15x Orge II (Heavy)
1587 DPS
6347 Volley
MAX velo: 1500
Dmg: 1x 64 (Thermal)
Tracking: 0.54
