L4s, keep using CNR or start move to tengu?

Hi ho.

I moved to a CNR from a SNI once my skills and isk allowed me.

With my current fit I'm doing 700 dps (cruise+drones) and 500 dps omni tank ( since I can't bother changing hardeners all the time).

Get all of my skills up to a perfect CNR dps, will take about 100 days to get it to 900 dps.

I already have cruisers 5, and most of the base skills. Tengu will do around the 715 dps with HMLs.

So what is a better choice to keep on the missions?

Tengu can do so much better than 715 dps on HML.
SNI and CNR are worth keeping for missions you are uncomfortable using Tengu in.

My current Tengu Fit is going at 799 dps with Scourge Fury and missle implants.
Plus i have no need for drones with maxed support skills.

as to tank i am getting 919 dps tank with a LG-crystal set and a DG/CN tank (however only using invuln t2)
has a decent omni of 74 plus resists, so no need to change out hardners.

Although the same can be said for a maxed CNR , The Tengu is simple to fly and finishes missions fast ., the difference is it is faster to train for and max out.

The reason why people herald the Tengu so much is because it's bling, special and fast. Possibly combined with a lack of understanding of game mechanics other than regurgitating memes, only pointing out its good things and forgetting about its issues.

- Tengu is ONLY good in a Kinetic environment, if you have to fight Sansha its dps is crap and would you fight bloods then your cap will be an isue. apart from that its tank doesn't really work that well outside kin/therm
- its a suicide target, most tengu fits just require one tornado to turn them into space dust
- it's fast

- CNR has a beefier tank and isn't a suicide target as much (unless you start fitting nonsense, which isn't needed)
- it has damage type selection without dps loss, with cruise+drones has similar dps compared to a Tengu using T2 fury ammo, as long as you use scourge. So the CNR can do well EVERYWHERE, not just in Caldari space

pros and cons, just don't buy into the stupid hype nonsense.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Agree that too much Tengu hype. I use a Mach to do level 4s until I get bored. Then it's a Tengu or Loki. Just because it's fun, not efficient.

The posters above raise Valid points.

I keep hearing good things about the Mach.
Might be something to look into.

I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out, but saying a Tengu is only good in a kinetic environment is comical.

There is a spreadsheet floating around that specifically shows how well a kinetic bonused ship works against 3/4's of the rats in this game. You either don't own one, or are completely delusional to say otherwise.

I have a maxed out CNR and my personal preference is the Tengu. However, Caldari Battleship V makes a nice Nightmare. Big smile

Major rat factions: Guristas, Serpentis, Sansha, Blood Raider, Angel, Drone. That's 1/3, not 3/4. If you actually own a Tengu, you would've felt how much less gank 500 dps is vs 700.

People still do lvl4s for isk?

Tengu is a great ship but you may want to graduate to a gunship like nm/mach and get into running incursions.
