I can't be the only one that thought of this... with the resources EVE has... Why is there no Interstellar Docking Scene?

CCP please!

elaborate.

if you mean 'every time we dock a cut scene plays' i'd call that boring as ****. There is another game being made that has alot of cut scenes for mundane actions.

if you mean manual docking.. that would be difficult in eve.

But the reason we don;t have a docking scene is as i stated, after the 10th time you will be screaming for the scene to hurry up so you can do what you need.

Docking isn't an interstellar kind of thing. The word interstellar means between stars and doesn't apply well to docking scenes. That is, unless you're wanting to dock in one solar system and end up in another. And then the reason why we don't have that is because stargates and wormholes would get jealous since it is their purview to ferry ships from one solar system to another. They tolerate cynosaural jumping, but only barely. Interstellar docking would create an uproar.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

If the forum passwords differed from our game ones, I would encourage the OP to changes theirs to something random that they will never remember. P

I have no problem with docking animations. Or any other of many that could be introduced.

My only caveat is that they replace current loading screens, not add to them. Like the gate jumping animation for instance. It didn't add any time, it just gave it some interest.

I'd much rather see an immersive scene when undocking than a highlighted undock button and then after some time has passed you are abruptly in space.

I could see adding this for people who have CQ enabled especially, just because watching my ship get towed in would be preferable to watching the word 'LOADING' blink over and over again.

Would be nice to see, as the disappear/ reappear in space kinda breaks suspension of disbelief.
Maybe you can have the ship fitting window open and all inventory/station functionality while flying in.

However, like others said it shouldn't add to any load time or slowdown to the game.

CCP has a idea thread up considering mooring for larger ships at stations, which would kinda be like what you're asking for.

Because there are no spinning, out of control, half-broken space stations to dock with.

And if you mean a scene that plays when you dock with a station, it's because one of three things will happen:

1. It takes longer to load the docking scene than to just load the station interior.
b. It just becomes a jarring audio-visual noise blip that makes the screen and sound go all wobbly without showing anything.
III. It'll look ugly when the missiles and lasers people shoot at you go through the walls of the station as you're playing docking games.

while epeen;s point is good, this one is better. if you had to see the same scene, over and over while playing docking games, you might want to stab your eye out.

But, if the scene took the same ammount of time it takes to go from space to station interier, which is like 15 seconds from 'docking request accepted' to doing stuff.. it could be interesting. But if it takes 1-2 min.. and i dock 10-30 times a day.. thats a wasted hour looking a cut scene that does nothing

It takes 15 seconds for you from docking to being able to do something?

Sheeesh, I must be doing it wrong,
because I'm usually docking in five. :/

SWTOR has a cut scene for everything you do in that game....and it became very annoying after awhile. For me, it was a good move from there back to here and not seeing anymore cut scenes. Im not against them but i think its critical that they be used sparsely and be pleasing to the eye.

The only cut scene i personally want gone is the warp gate animation....or as mentioned in the past.....a way to toggle it on and off.

Destiny always seems decades away, but suddenly it's not decades away; it's right now. But maybe destiny is always right now, right here, right this very instant, maybe.

There was a dev once who made just that although it never was released outside CCP HQ.
As I recall CCP found that the added 'value' of this animation was not worth it.

And as other said, if you dock/undock you want to dock/undock not wait for a (un)docking animation to play out.

Agreed. I'm willing to look at all sorts of animations as long as it doesn't slow stuff down. The first 3 times are fun, after that an animation will simply annoy me if it keeps me from doing anything.
