Going back to the original point of this, I think watch lists are fine. It's one of the few things 'prey' can do in fight whether it's against HS war decs, timers, general 1 man asshattary, or in wh space.

It doesn't feel broken, if you have trouble finding fights in a wormhole, maybe you shouldn't announce your presence by leaving mobile depots up. Also, camping wormholes, in great numbers for kills is only really awesome if you're planning to evict or grab someone's ratting carrier. Other than that, why bother? You're better of spreading out the love, getting a huge chain, and when someone finds something - giving people the route.

Eve is full of instant-intel unfortunately.

Originally it was designed to foster community and make it easier to find and meet up with friends when the game was new, sparsely inhabited, and you could go dozens of systems without ever seeing anyone in local.

Now that Eve is steadily populated, these metas are really unnecessary and just make it easier for people to avoid fighting. I'm in favor of any upgrades that eliminate insta-intel such as non-mutual watchlist.

.. If you are concerned about WL log your character in before work and log out before bed. Or hell let DT log you out and just log in every morning, parked in a station.

The only counter to an in-game mechanic is to idle out of game... What ABSOLUTE TOSH..

That reason alone should be enough to have the non-mutual WL removed from the game

I have to admit this is a interesting debate Smile

Besides some of the obvious trolling, I think just about everybody believes it is both free and easy intel.

Whether it should be changed or iterated on is the big debate. Most fear change because.. well we don't know what that change would be. Some feel it fine because while it doesn't tell you where the person is, it does tell you when they log in. Its purpose has changed since being developed. Its probably as old as the pos code.

If it was a means of keeping track of friendships, fine, but it is mostly used to keep track of people to know when to kill them.

I don't mind the intel, I just don't believe it should be free unless mutually agreed upon between the two parties (or two people).

I would not remove the capability of stalking a person, I just would not make it free. You want to track logins and logoffs without someone knowing, it'll cost you. If its friendly, notice is to be sent to you, and if you agree, its free.

It doesn't have to cost a fortune (I'm thinking a few hundred thousand to maybe a million isk), but it should have a maintenance fee (bribery to concord for shutting down the com's network for you and that person). You have a tracking list of 1000 people, it's going to start costing you ALOT to track all of them without a wardec.

Tracking wardec targets should be free.

Something along those lines would work out.

Remove it. The most broken feature eve has atm. Like most people I was shocked when I found out you can get such free intel in this so called tough and hardcore game.
