Just like the title states, where do I go from here? I'm currently on a trial account and having a great time but now I need some direction. With the 20-some-odd days I have left before I delve into subscribing to the game, I would like to utilize my time to make a decent amount of ISK.

Go do L1/L2 missions.
Go ratting.
Pick up a trade route and become a tycoon.
Train up skills to fly a pirate cruiser.

Do whatever you want, really. Making ISK will just happen.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Want to make New Eden a nice place? Try this out.

A brief summary of what is available to you can be found here

Try not to get stuck in the idea of "I need to find ways to make ISK". Instead, find things that you enjoy doing, and then figure out how to make isk doing those things. For me, that was hauling, mining, ratting, and exploration. I slowly settled on exploration as my primary day to day activity because I genuinely enjoy going to all ends of the universe just to see what's out there. I could make much more isk by, say, sitting in a trade hub and being a market tycoon, but trade isn't really my thing.

Also, about your trial and subscription: If you subscribe now, you won't lose the free time from your trial. You're subscription will simply begin at the end of your trial period. So you'll have the same amount of time, but no restrictions! Neat, right?

Find a corp.
Find friends.
Play with them or at least talk with people.

If you are active in local, that's a lot already.

Going the solo route of course is nice too,
but most people drop out because of that.

This game is about player interaction ...
... that's what it excells at.

Simply roaming around, stealing from cans in belts can be fun too!
Scan down mission runners and annoy them!
Bump miners out of belts!

Whatever it is... let someone else feel your presence!

Experiment. Some may disagree with me on this, but you should do as much as possible early on until you find what you like to do. Diversify. Through this you will hopefully find something you really enjoy doing that you will be willing to spend your time devoting your SP to.

And despite what some people will tell you you can make enough isk to do anything you want to do.

Make friends, join a corp and find something that interests you. EVE sucks as a solo game and most who try to play it that way, miss out on the fun and ultimately drop out. Don't be that guy. Join the rest of us who have found friends to fly with.

It seems to mostly have been said but I just want to back up what everyone else is saying.

Make friends, join an active player corp of find random friends or join some public or semi public chat channels but make friends.

Try out different things. Try as many things as you can even if you find something that you like maybe you'll like something else as well but try lots of stuff out. Once you figure out what you like doing figuring out how to make isk doing it usually is not that hard.

This is an MMO it's about doing things with other people fleet up and have fun.

If you haven't yet:

Head to arnon and check out the SOE epic arc. It's designed for new players and is a continuation of the new player experience.

Be aware that you may need help on the penultimate mission, it can be hard on newer players; which is by design. If you find that to be the case put a shout out in local, someone will generally respond as most of us have been there in the past.

I've seen everything from newbies in frigates to older players in battleships and the like respond to a call for help with that mission.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

The Sisters of EVE epic mission arc, "The Blood-Stained Stars", is typically next, though entirely optional.

Talk to Sister Alitura in the Arnon system.

Forget the ISK. Utilize your time to have a decent amount of FUN. Go to lowsec and shoot someone in the face.

Ayup. Unless you've got a T2 fit Confessor, which is what I used against him, you'll likely need help. So far as I know, he is the NPC that is supposed to introduce players to fleeting.

Fit up a ship you can afford to lose, and look to get into a fight with another player.

One thing I suggest is that you find a highsec system that isn't a newbie system (ideally security status 0.5), and fit an Atron with no defensive modules, only damage and two warp scramblers. Look for a player mining in a venture, and try to kill them (you need 2 scrams to prevent a venture escaping).

You'll lose your ship to CONCORD, the highsec space police (hence using an Atron, which is cheap) and your mark might escape, but regardless, you'll get to experience player interaction.

Or, get in a venture yourself, and try to pick fights with gankers and get away alive...

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

This is not right.

You can't tell a noob to gank someone and leave out the consequences.
You're shooting yourself in the foot with your,
what I assume, good intentions.

The consequences are a KillRight against you, OP,
and loss of Security Status.

Also will you legally be killable by anyone for fifteen minutes,
as long as your Global Criminal Countdown lasts.

Undocking in a ship with GCC will result in immediate loss.

Every one will see you as flashy red in overview
and docking at a station without people is advisable.

A killright is something you get when you initiate aggression towards another player,
in highsec and lowsec when you kill a capsule ... if I recall correctly.

You can look this all up on google using the keywords I mentioned.
I am not saying it's a bad thing to do, but you should be aware
that there are consequences you will have to deal with.
