I've been informed by a friend, who is a clone-based soldier on the ground, that there are escalations in Planetary Defenses across all Factions, preparing for a major confrontation across New Eden later this week.

This is primarily due to all factions having recently announced that they are increasing payouts for infantry, temporarily.

As such, I've received a report from soldiers fighting for the Gallente Federation that they intend to perform a video broadcast from the front-lines in an effort to open the eyes of Capsuleers and perhaps sway them to action, stating that we have been lax in our offering of support.

While I have no concrete loyalties to the Federation, I have friends on the ground who are, so I volunteered to pass the message along here in the Summit so that others could see it and maybe offer their support.

Alternatively, if you are not interested in helping the Federation (I know that there are many of you) than perhaps you can find one of the combat teams for the other empires and lend your support there. I'm apathetic toward the whole ordeal other than watching the broadcast for my own entertainment.

What do I get out of this? They want Capsuleers to help, they have to make it worth our time.

I want to paint my ship Periwinkle.

DUST battles can have a significant impact on any offensive to contest a system in either CEWPA Warzone. When the bunnies on your side are winning, enemy Infrastructure Hubs are much easier to push into Vulnerable status. If your opponents are waging a successful defensive planetary campaign they can bog your spaceborne forces down, and give any enemy fleets more time to coordinate a counteroffensive against you.

This isn't even mentioning the rather lucrative rewards for supplying successful orbital bombardments for the infantry on the ground.

(OOC: Think it's 1000 LP for orbitals and you get dust-bunny killmails)

A fantastic attitude to have and it's no wonder that Amarrian ground troops never encounter orbital resistance.

Suffice to say the firing of Orbital Strike is its own reward. A great many LP can be obtained every few minutes simply be maintaining a holding pattern around the orbital satellites and providing support to the soldiers on the ground.

Indeed it is. A little over a year ago the 24th Crusade Ground Forces now the Imperial Guard, saw to a very significant upset on what was a previously Minmatar dominated warzone. This oddly enough coincided with a heavy push space side which saw our fleet roll through about ten or so systems in an evening, all of which were provided the maximum positive bonus for taking the systems.

I was talking about this with Mister Thal the other day! When I try to get a contract with my militia, there's hardly any available! This has been going on for weeks on end!

How am I suposed to get my Federation issue dropsuit blueprint if they can't even get me on the battlefield! I hope this affluence of loyalty currency at least motivates the squids to fight!

Stupid warbarges money printing machinea made everyone rich enough to actually afford prototype suits and actually lose them!

It's not so much a lack of interest in dropping strikes on DUSTers - sorry, you guys die even more than I do - but it's the inability to find combat zones to drop strikes on in the first place. The Loyalty Points simply for firing a barrage are pretty big, let alone scoring a few hits on some unsuspecting mercenary squad.

I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me.

You simply need to align yourself with an actively running Platoon, usually via one of many combined channels, who can direct you to the combat zones. This would all be much more simple and localised if Mercenary and Loyalist organisation were given the agency to deploy as required to specific localities rather than at the behest of their guiding corporations as they could indicate specific systems and planets to you or you to them.

Wait, Warbarges make ISK!? If that's the case, then I might see more of them in the warzone.... They may be worth it after all.
