Quafe riot blamed on rogue capsuleers !

News reaches Gutter Press today, of a stampede and riot that ocurred inside and outside the Quafe retail outlets on the University of Caille station in Odotte in Sinq Laison.

The local authorities have restored order, with the use of police drones and tranquilliser gas, and several hundred people have been arrested following the disturbances.

Reports indicate that the riot started shortly after a customer purchasing some Quafe noted that the bottle design was unlike the normal design of Quafe products in the Odotte system, and informed others using social media.

As thousands descended on the retail outlets, seeking the unusual bottles, a disturbance broke out, which quickly escalated, as news of both the unusual Quafe bottles, and the disturbance reached other residents on the station. Hundreds of UoC students were caught up in the fray, some having been there to observe events as part of their journalism and media studies.

Police drones using nonlethal methods subdued the rioters, with dozens hospitalised for minor injuries.

A preliminary report from investigators has indicated that the unusual Quafe bottles were part of a shipment, classed as "Lost in Transit", following a failed capsuleer courier contract to Odette, a different system also in Sinq Laison.

It is as yet, unclear how the Odette shipment of Quafe ended up in Odotte, but other capsuleers are suspected, given capsuleer tendencies towards interstellar salvage laws.

A Quafe Corporation spokesdrone had this to say: "We appreciate our loyal customers and their dedication to the pursuit of the enjoyment that Quafe brings. Quate, it tastes good."

I feel like I should personally deliver a few million of my personal reserves to Odette, the poor system.

I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me.

It seems to me, someone had simply trouble of recognizing one little letter, which caused delivery to the wrong system. But what is mindboggling, is how these peoples even reacted just to a change of bottle...

How... how it is even possible?! What they were even thinking about? It is just a bottle, if they love that their Quafe, it is contents, the Quafe is important, not the vessel!!

How... how this stupidity is possible?... HOW?... What peoples you are?! From where there are you?!! Where you were educated?!... What is going on in your heads?!...

This is... troubling.

Defects create cherished collector items that can be mounted proudly in vacuhover display chambers to match any corporate or residential design aesthetic. Fortunately, manufacturers are too scrupulous to create manufacturing defects in the interest of charging ten or a hundred thousand percent markups. Yes, there are some Matari performance artists who mutilate Quafe bottles on purpose and throw them away "to make a statement." I tried to recover such a bottle once, but an inebriated Brutor gentlemen took offense at my disturbing his "tea garden" and I was forced to advance rapidly in the opposite direction.

That is an interesting perspective on Matari pilots, ship engineering, and combat tactics.

Nay, it doesn't reflect on the Matari pilots, ship engineering and combat tactics.

Our ships are designed in this manner. First, you take the powerful engines you can find. Then you build your ship around it, add more plating or sterner shield emission electronics, up to your taste, then attach the largest guns you can find on it. Then you throw in anything else that can fit.

There, a Matari combat vessel.

Matari combat pilots come in three flavours: The suicidal daredevils who do their best to get real damn close in the fastest ships they can fly (usually armour-tanked), the flighty ones who stay the hell away and hit you where you can't hit them in the fastest ships they can fly, and the slippery ones who do a mix of both (very rare) in the fastest ships they can fly.

The tactics reflect the pilots.

However, none of these seem to reflect on our culture. We have yet to actually take the largest, most powerful hydrazine engines we can get our hands on, stick plating and lots of guns on it plus other doodads onto it and then try to play music with it.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Have you ever listened to one of those death rustcore bands from Rens? They sound as if they are doing exactly that. It's like a large Amamake gatecamp being hotdropped. But in your ears.

So, one question:

Why is Quafe not manufactured locally just about everywhere?

It's basically a syrup mixture and carbonated water, right?

Because they have haulers and Capsuleers at the ready to ship things for them, mostly free of charge. The market has a need, and the Capsuleers fulfill it. When's the last time any of the huge corps paid you for moving holoreels or something from one place to another?

Also, I presume, due to the fact that the Quafe formula is highly sensitive and localized production plants would probably increase that risk. And do you know how many flavors of Quafe there are? I have at least one can from every one. Hundreds, man. Hundreds.

I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me.

Quafe is normally manufactured on a constellation or system wide basis, with local bottling and canning plants, to satisfy the thirsty Quafe enthusiasts.

There are variations in bottle and can design, between constellations, with some becoming collectors items, an example being the Quafe bottle design introduced at the Old Man Star bottling plant, shortly before the Caldari State occupied the system during early YC111. With only a short bottling run, that particular design is much sought after by collectors, as the design changed again, following the occupancy.

It is these variations in the packaging, not variations in the cool, refreshing contents, that cause Quafe enthusiasts to become excited by the unexpected arrival of outlander Quafe products.

Edit: I have just been informed, that normally, the system of Odette is served by the Lirsautton Quafe factory, with the bottling plant being at the Ardallabier Quafe warehouse. The system of Odotte is also served by the Lirsautton Quafe factory, with the bottling plant being at the Blameston Quafe retail centre.

I'm not going to lie, I started the riot. I brought a bottle of Quafe to the shop and hid it on the shelf. And when it was discovered I egged on the baseliners....

Tell me about it. Half the colonists I manage love the stuff. The plaza sounds like it was subjected to Quad 3500mm bombardments during the wee hours of the local time zones.
