The next very likely banworthy scam, can we get this shot down now rather than later?

The next new scam people use is going to be people offering beta access to Dust for ISK. Yes, it is going to happen.

Since, you know, people tend to have multiple accounts and can thus sign up multiple times.... but obviously can't play multiple copies of dust unless they are skilled with their feet, you're going to have some people with extra access or who dont have any desire to actually play it. PSN account are free, so that doesn't help things. There will be people offering access to Dust, even if they don't possess an extra beta account.

So can a GM either shoot this down as illegal now, or clarify that it actually is a legal scam?

Would it be illegal to make a t-shirt with a closed beta key?

I was selling Concord Billboards. That worked out rather well.

(Just meet me at the Billboard of your choice. Transfer ISK and take possession. No fuss, no mess.) Blink

I think this would classify as RMT. But since your not actually RMTing, this is pretty gray.

I would like an answer to this also.... since without one I'll probably start doing it anyway.

You could try reading the the EULA and TOS paying particular attention to the bits about isk for out of game services/items.

It's pretty clear.

i think falls into the "you trusted someone in eve so you're stupid" category, anyone who falls for this deserves to lose their isk. scumbags are gonna scam, i get more frustrated with the people who inexplicably keep supporting them, so if this scam emoragequits some of the morons, all the better.

My DUST 514 closed beta key is 55FA-904B-3378-FE90.

I trust that you'll send me 200M ISK before you'll make use of the key.

Scenario A: All capsuleers get a beta key.

Scenario B: Only some capsuleers get a beta key.

Under scenario A, your scam doesn't exist, since, yknow, you have to play EVE to get scammed while playing EVE, and if you play EVE, you already have a beta key.

Under scenario B, the forum implodes under the weight of whines and maybe some people get scammed. I don't think CCP is going to do this.

Edit: Also, under scenario A, I suppose you could scam people who don't play EVE, but what do you want CCP to do about it? At that point, you can take legal action irl.

Until a GM says otherwise, closed beta keys are fair game for scamming.

I await a response from a GM in this thread if any.

Personally I would class this as trading isk for out of game services, which is a breach of the EULA. But, I'm no GM.

In the sell orders forum people sell out of game services for isk with no problems. TS hosting/sig making ect..

Dont see how a beta key could be considered against the ToS when out of game services for isk already exist and are given the green light by the powers.

I know i'll be scamming my heart out once i see a green light from a GM/Dev.

If you read the fine print, you'll notice that CCP stated that all players who receives beta keys have to sign a Confidentiality agreement before the keys are handed over. (which means, even if you FRAPS it and post video content on youtube or post pics on....anything and caught you'll suffer IRL consequences) It will also be cross checked with your PSN acct so that all details matchup (e-mail, name, addy etc etc.)

Translation: You would be liable for what the person you sold your beta key to did with that account and the content he/she had access to under the NDA, and while that might not result in criminal prosecution it could easily lead to a ban.

This definitely seems like dangerous territory to me. I wouldn't be surprised if it were bannable - similar to how trading WoW gold for EVE ISK is bannable.

....I guess you guys completely missed the point of scamming.

You get the isk for offering beta keys.

They get no beta keys.

You probably never had a beta key in the first place.
