New Ships Proposal

I would like to see a deal struck with Paramount Pictures/CBS (I believe they are the last ones to hold the "Star Trek" rights) where Eve is allowed to use the star trek ship’s designs. Doing so would give trekkie fans a game to enjoy and also keep interest alive for paramount. This could entice many more new players. Face it, most players of Eve love space and ships and who wouldn’t want to fly the starship enterprise? The ships of star trek could be paired up with a similar race. Example: Federation ships - Galente, Romulan - Minmatar, Klingon - Amarr, and so on.

Just, no.

EVE has it's own lore and in-game history and NONE of it is compatible with Startrek lore and history.
If you want to fly Federation starships, there's Star Trek online, play that.

And Amarr are nothing like Klingons, nor are Minmatar similar in any way to Romulans

Actually, Klingons would be Minmatar (never seen a Bird of Prey that wasn't rusting) and Romulans would be Amarr (Warbirds are so Amarr it's not even funny).

But yeah, no, Star Trek has no place here.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...

Actually the amarr would just be a human faction etnicly cleansing the universe of all those filthy blasphemous aliens.

I think that game exists elsewhere.

What ever happened to imagination?

Thank all of you for taking the time to reply. In retrospect, I strongly agree that Eve has it's own history; and would not want to toy with that. I also like the hard work that the coders do for this game, as it is the first game that I have played where their work keeps showing improvements. Thank you for the suggestion to check Trek online, but that is not my style. I merely liked the look of the ships in Trek.

SoE ships make some semblance of sense, so no.

Star Trek is struck with this curse that for every good Star Trek game there are bazillions of crappy games. One of the games that had ship to ship combat exactly as you would expect from Trek lore was Bridge Commander. Unfortunately Bridge Commander 2 was never made (check youtube for what it may have looked like) … and Bridge Commander 1 is very hard to get by.

That said, we're in the wrong forum section to discuss this Blink

Honestly that would be cheaper if CCP bought the license for "Being John Malkovich", and every ship type would be refered as " Malkovich" which would make intel work far more interesting.

As ideas go, it's not necessarily any worse than what CCP normally comes up with. I'd vote for it.

Despite being a Star Trek fan, I dislike this idea very much. The ship modules don't fit into the universe of EVE.
