Cannot patch

So, since downtime, I cannot play, cannot repair, cannot patch.

Launcher just sits at "Initializing."

I've tried running it in admin mode.

Repairer doesn't work either, I get an error that says:

error: unpack requires a string argument of length 4



patcher just sits at "initializing" forever, and I can log in, but I can't click "Play."

any ideas?

Been mentioned already that there are a few problems with the launcher post-downtime.

I'm sure CCP are working on it/solved it by now.

Probably best to close this thread as a duplicate.

Well if they solved it, it hasn't applied to me, at all.

I see that nearly 24,000 people are currently playing, but I'm still unable to patch at all... so......

Works for me.

I suspect not all the bugs have been ironed out of the new launcher.

Oh well that is definitely a problem. You're not using ZoneAlarm, are you? If so turn off the key logger feature.

No, I am not using zone alarm. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the repair tool.

Repair tool still won't work, either. still gives me this string argument error.

launcher gets stuck at "Initializing" or "Creating patch 0.0" or "creating patch 0.9"

Every time.

Then it just sits there for 10 to 15 minutes until giving me an error message along the lines of "An exception has occured."

Did you try to replace the launcher-only as previously posted?

Failing that, I'd nuke the cache, and reinstall. It shouldn't take that long now.

Whenever I hear 'string argument' I picture Gary Busey with a guitar..

..which is weird.. because if you google Gary Busey with a guitar.. it looks perfectly normal.

No clue why my mind thinks that way.

But you all probably thought to yourselves "yeah.. I could totally see Gary Busey arguing with a guitar.." so I guess its not really all that weird to think like that.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

That fixed it, finally. Still having problems with very slow patching though.
