Gallente ships look plastic now?

I resubbed today after about half a year away from the game (been keeping up with updates and news though), and there was one thing that I found strange and frustrating: is this just my GPU or do Gallente ships now look like they're made of plastic? Especially the silver parts - I had noticed from videos the silver parts had been made shinier (even chrome-like), but these areas didn't look as cheap in videos as they do in-game: http://bit.ly/1ykRnis

They are still working on them.

Stop looking at the ships in the preview window or in station. Get out and fly them.

Ships look ******* gorgeous with all the new light sources.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I fly the ships I have - my Enyo doesn't look plastic neither in preview nor in space, but I can't tell if this is the same for BC+ hulls that look like this. If someone could share an in-space screenshot of a TI Gallente BC/BS that I could compare it would be great.

I know they're still working on textures (heard it on the YouTube recording of the Fanfest Art & Graphics Panel), I just want to confirm if this is my GPU/settings or if Gallente ships really look this cheap now.

Yeah... Yup.

PBR has advantages.... (lighting)
And then it has disadvantages..... (textures, materials, shaders in general, and lighting -which makes the model look even worse in circumstances)

Apparently they're working on it.

But for the advantages that PBR brought, it doesn't really seem to me like a 'worth-it' scenario for anything other than Amarr.

They'll spend a year fixing it, just to get it back to what it was before-hand.

Feel free to hook into the related directx runtime ...
... so you can add your own, shader based, completely custom filter to it.

(I don't care enough to check if EVE's shaders are saved in plain-text, to read for everyone...)

Weird. I don't think Gallente ships look like plastic I think Caldari do. But that should all change (hopefully) with V++ which is coming out soon(ish).

I think plastic is suitable for the Thorax anyway....

Could be worse. They could all look like potatoes. Oh wait! They do!

Yeah, they are a bit too glossy nowadays. I remember when they were dull grey.

Woah, that looks way worse than it does in my client.. Perhaps you don't have the lighting effects on?

Only in a can. At the cab shack we always referred to a twelve pack of PBR as a 'fog machine', for reasons that became obvious once you were more than midway through it.

Find another acronym, PBR will forever mean swill in a can.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Ever tried seamless metal ones?
Shipstats improve if you put them in hot water, before you "dock".
