Make the Nestor like the Rattlesnake

At its core, the Nestor is an armor/laser version of the Rattlesnake. So i propose you take it to its roots. Lose all the role bonus' except the 50% bonus to range on lasers. Add on either a 10% per level bonus, or a role bonus of 50% for damage to lasers. You end up with a ship that does slightly less paper dps with lasers than a Navy Apoc, but with the drone damage to put it solidly into the faction battleship tier.

The Rattlesnake has 5 missile hardpoints with a 10% bonus per level to damage. The Nestor also has 5 turret hardpoints, so 10% per level damage bonus seems to be equivolant. The Rattlesnake and Nestor both have a 4% per level bonus to resists, one for armor and one for shields. They are so similar, and the Rattlesnake is really popular and the Nestor could be also if you just took it back to its roots and stop trying to do so many different things with it.

The nestor also allows ships to refit using its built-in SMA.

Kind of a big deal...

Now I'm not saying that the Nestor isn't terrible, because it is.

But it's a very lore oriented ship, and as much as I dislike lore based decision making, stripping all the SOE style bonuses off of it and turning it into another generic combat ship isn't exactly a prime choice either.

And it does have it's uses, they are just rather niche. It's not a great solo mission runner but it does well in certain small gang and WH setups.

Perhaps they should have given it a bonus to max velocity while cloaked, similar to blops. Just no covert abilities?

I actually like the nestor - it could do with some kind of navigation/mobility features to really fit its role however - some heavily restricted black ops like capabilities would complete the ship IMO.

Or you know, a ship maintenace array that would hold more than a shuttle.

Honestly, that's my only gripe about the ship.

Nifty, but not practical or useful for most pvp fleets. Complaints that the nestor kind of sucks are not a new thing, it's been mentioned enough times and by enough people that CCP should at least look it over.

Honestly, it's not that the Nestor sucks, it's just that is has a very narrow use case, which doesn't lend itself to the majority of Eve players.

Come to think of it, I guess that is kind of the definition of sucks...

U cant expect no-WH player to understand its importance ... everybody thinks everything should be usable everywhere, but it shouldnt, each type of space should have ships that are designed for that area more than for others ...

Sounds like a navygeddon but i do already have one.

I just don't understand the motivation for this change... why would you want to make the ship less interesting? Also the Nestor has some straight up fantastic niche uses with it's refitting and logi.
