Suggestion for Contact lists and Online Notifications

In its current state the contact list is one of the single greatest intel tools. You can add entire fleets of super capital pilots to this list so you know when they're online and getting ready for something. You can tell when the BLOPS scout hovering around your region has logged out instead of going to the next system.

To put it plainly, this is pretty much the most ******** mechanic ever.

Why should someone on the other side of the galaxy be allowed to know when you are logging on or off without your permission? Doesn't this seem a little bizarre ?

Anyone......?

No.....?

The simplest and only solution here is to make online notifications something you're required to give permission for before any other person can see when you are logging on and off.

If someone feels the urge to spy on your coming and goings they should be in system.

uhhh what about the people and places? you can add contacts whenever and still know if they are online. the notifications are just a buff (that's needed might i add).

those notifications don't tell you where they are, nor what they are presently flying, just online/offline. what's the issue again?

Just another forum alt of a super pilot trying to remove the ability of super hunters to bring non-consentual PvP to his overpriced space coffin. Ignore him.

Edit: uhhhh what about the post do you not get? He is talking about the people and places list. That's exactly what he's referring to, the ability to add someone to your contact list, and see when they go online, when they go offline, and the ability to check that status at any time....

A buff that was needed??? We needed to be able to see when any player goes online or offline?? Okay... sure buddy. If you love your free/ez intel so much why don't you marry it?

You're both fools if you think the current watchlist is fine.

OP is 100% correct, I'm not a super pilot... pure sub-cap, and I don't think it's okay for anyone to just have the ability to see if I'm online or not.

Anyone with a brain would agree that in an MMO where intel and sneakery are so important, that it's utterly idiotic that anyone can see your online status without your permission.

This is basically like saying you're OK with all the crims in your neighborhood receiving a text message to tell them when you're off to work so they can come rob you.

The only supers that get killed by hunters these days are the ones that they find being sold on the forums then add that char to a watch list and count down the days until he makes a mistake.

I'm all for locator agents etc i just don't think its feasible to know when someone is exactly logging on or off. Whats not reasonable about that?

Counter argument by re-phrasing because I am lazy: Anyone with a brain would agree that in an MMO about continuous, never-ending, total destruction for which intel and sneakery are so important, that it's utterly logical that anyone can see your online status without your permission in order to bring you that game element. Roll

Besides, your argument lacks validity. Just because I know you are online does not mean I am interested in you, your whereabouts or your activities. I do not even know where you are by observing the watchlist and have to ask a locator or a local spy/scout to find you. The Watchlist triggers so much possible player interaction, your unreasonable fears are completely irrelevant and overshadowed by that potential.

Also reported for redundancy. Go find the other thread about Watchlist removal.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.
