This is the first half of a 2-part idea, find the second half "here"

- - -

First up, this is just a rough concept that would need much more refinement and input from others.
Second, It's not directly aimed at a niche that is lacking in EVE at this time, but nether is it something that is strongly represented.
Third, I have no numbers to provide as yet, they are subject to change and I am just brain-storming ideas.

It is in part, an idea to create a T2 variation of a hull that is yet to receive one.

The Idea

--> What

The electronic logistics frigate is a ship designed as it sounds, it strengthens the electronic capability's of a target ship/ships using remote assistance modules (ECCM, Remote Sensor Boosters, ect...)

  • The hulls used will be based on the T1 logistics frigates already present in the game. (Bantam, Navitas, Inquisitor, Burst)
  • They will share a similar profile to E-war frigates of fast, hard to hit but fragile force multiplier/equalizer.
  • Purely a defensive platform offering limited/no offensive capabilities
  • They are designed to harden the effectiveness and electronic resilience of a fleet.

  • --> How

    Each ships bonus will be relative to is racial E-War counterpart:
  • Caldari: ECCM for ECM
  • Gallente: Remote Sensor Boosters for Remote Sensor Dampeners
  • Amarr: Remote Tracking Computer for Tracking Disruptions
  • Minmitar: Remote Signal Suppressors for Target Painters (more on Signal Suppressors later)

  • They receive bonuses to:
  • Module Effectiveness
  • Activation Cost or Optimal Range.

  • They also get a unique Role Bonus of:
  • Remote Electronic Assistance Modules will affect the host ship along with the Target ship

  • If that seems to powerful then and additional addendum could be added:
  • The overall effectiveness of all fitted modules will suffer stacking penalty if multiple modules are used at the same time, regardless if different ships are targeted.

  • - - -
    Remote Signal Suppressors
    Since there is no way (ignoring Fleet-Boosts for now) currently to directly countermeasure Target Painters, a new module would need to be introduced that remotely reduces the signature radius of a ship to counteract the increasing effect of Target Painters.

    This is simply to fill the gap for something that the Minmatar variant of this ship class to bonus towards.
    If someone has any ideas on what an alternative would be then please comment below.

    --> Why

    Pro's and Cons

    The Good
  • A reason for T2 Logistics Frigate
  • There are not many (if any) ships that currently have a bonus to Remote Assistance Modules
  • Offers a way to centralize a fleets anti-Ewar capabilities, but retains a weakness of if the Electronic Logistic ship is destroyed, that reinforcement is gone susceptible to be exploited.

  • The Not-So-Good
  • Possibly the role is to limited and only usable in specific situations.
  • Mechanics might be too abuse-able if used en-mass.
  • The Onerios and Scimitar already have a bonus to Remote Tracking Computers, this may obsolete that feature.

  • (I'll try to add more as people bring them up)

    The TLDR;

    The basic idea is that theses frigs have bonuses to ECCM, Remote Sensor Boosters, Remote Tracking Computers and a new Remote Sensor Suppressor (reduces signature radius)

    They fly and behave just like E-War Frigs, but are focused on helping fleet mates than disrupting enemy ships.

    Also means a T2 version of the Bantam, Navitas, Inquisitor and Burst.

    So they are just there to target a friendly, slap some buffs on, and potentially go AFK? (maybe not practical, but thats where their involvement ends from a gameplay perspective).

    I think its too shallow to just make them dedicated remote sebo/TC/ECCM, and wouldn't worry if they had some limited combat ability - their flight patterns would involved staying close to AFs or Logi and adding some DPS or protecting, which I think would be relatively challenging because you'd have both friendlies and enemies locked.

    If it's just for the remote versions of the buffs, I doubt anyone will fly one as a dedicated pilot, and they will simply be used as alts. People use logi as alts and they require more involvement from the player; these seem like you could just fire and forget.

    Yeh, I was thinking they could be just to limited (boring) bit its more of an idea to throw around, since there is no current platform like it.

    But that could be for a reason to, as you said.
    They would need to be more engaging, but not sure how you could achieve that apart from you suggestion of making them slightly combat orientated.
