I am having trouble with the game and it's PvP feature...these guristas move to fast and i can't click on them in space to target them. I usually deploy drones but send them attacking the ore i was mining by accident...i just warp to a different location or jump outta the system.

help? Easy way to lock onto targets?

Use overview. You can also use CTRL+Click to target someone in space and overview.

If you send them to attack the ore you are mining.. May it be the case that you are selecting the NPCs and press F or select engage or whatever without targeting them?

Try setting you drones to "aggressive". This maybe dangerous if you are can mining. Someone can steal from your can, drones engage and you are a legal target to the thief.

You can lock onto the targets from the overview and selected item bar. On the default layout, it should be in the top right. Alternatively, you can hold down control, and then click on your desired target in space or on the overview.

You really need to go here with your new player questions.

Trust me when I tell you that the answers to your questions will be much more courteous and likely more correct. There are rules there against giving newbies a hard time or trolling them with misinformation in that forum.

CTRL click on the target in the overview, if you're using a Mac it may be different.

For reference here's a list of keyboard shortcuts.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I use one of my utility highs for an auto targeting module it will auto target hostiles within 60km. Great on missions click it once and target everything within range.

All due respect but I'm of the opinion that in addition to the "auto target back" feature, this module should be one of the first things any new pilot understands to never use, completely ignoring it's existence all together. It hinders and handicaps player development in regards to situational awareness and fittings, to general understanding of the overview and decision making in regards to pvp, even the kind that you don't expect to show up while ratting or doing missions. This is just my personal opinion and I mean no offense to Tuttomenui II or anyone else who prefers to use said options.

I really hope you`re just trolling. Your question is riddled with misconceptions I wonder how you survived a single day in space.

I don't understand. Guristas are no PvP. They are pirate faction NPCs and thus part of the PvE experience. As has been said: Just use your overview. Usually it doesn't move too fast and you can sort everything by name, distance, etc. You name it. Click there and then target via one of many options (target icon, shortcut etc.) Your Lasers, drones, railguns , missiles whatever will go after whatever you target the instant you start them. So it's possible to mine, swith target to pirates and set drones on them while the mining lasers happily keep what they did.

Launch the drones and set them to autoagress. Then they will take care of any pirates by themselves. Usually your mining vessel should have no other defense, as the highslots will be taken by mining equioment. I you have low skills or your ship is fitted without tank you might explode before the drones can take the pirates down. Tank your ship and use better drones (Tier II) once you have the skills.

I don't think the ore will be harmed, if you sick your drones on it.

This is also an option. Warp to the station and return with a combat vessel. The pirates will still be there and fall prey to your Merlin. You did do the tutorial and received your set of ships, didn't you?

But then I think this whole targeting thing might also be explained in the tutorial.
