Wardec alert

Let's say that I have a corp with a high sec POS, and sometimes I don't play the game for a few days. A wardec could easily happen in that time and then they can remove my POS and steal from it without me knowing about it and being able to defend it. So I was wondering, for those of us who have corporations with just one person, is there a good way to get an out-of-game alert when we are wardecced?

EVE Mon will list your message traffic w/alerts. It even has SOUND, and will minimize to your system tray.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I looked through all Evemon options and there is not a single option to give alerts for wardecs. You can see your messages but I get hundreds of messages. Also, one popup from my tray or sound is easy to miss (like when I'm not paying attention to my computer), and I don't want to have to check evemon all the time. I'm looking for something that is a little less easy to overlook.

It takes less than a minute to login and check your alerts.

If you don't want to defend your assets you don't deserve to have them.

EveMon does give notification alerts of wardecs to players with roles for them. Make sure you are using the right character with director/CEO roles and an API with the correct masks enabled. I just use full api keys for alt corps in evemon. The setting you are looking for is on the right hand side in a drop down list on the actual character sheet page rather than in the top menu, just above where the character skillsheet starts. You need 'Notifications' enabled for wardec alerts, and you can configure a sound to play in the options settings. You have to open the notification message for wardecs because as far as I remember they are either listed as Unknown or Concord, whereas bills have a header. But the notification message does say something about a wardec.

There are also mobile apps similar to Evemon that probably have the ability to settup wardec alerts. If you start using one and there's a support thread up in the tech lab forum I'd ask there for help rather than here. You could also ask for this topic to be moved to there to get some advice from the techies who design 3rd party apps.

If you are running a POS chain solo and you know you will regularly take breaks consider getting someone else into the corp who can log in more frequently than you and poke you out of game if needed. They don't have to have any roles, everyone can see wardec notifications. Otherwise just make sure your towers are stronted and have some defenses up as a deterrent, don't put too much expensive stuff in it, and mentally write it off.

Uhm. My opinion: you dont deserve a POS.

How hard is it to log in daily for less then 1 min to check your notifications (or use a program to read them).

The new opt in alert system tells you if you are wardecced.

If you cannot take 60s to log in and check your mail, or configure one of the many third party applications to review your mail on, then maybe you shouldn't be throwing poses up in highsec.

Apparently the idea of wanting to not look at eve for a few days sometimes is a completely ridiculous idea to a lot of people.

Not to mention the fact that if somebody wardecs you an hour after you checked, its still too late to do anything about it when you check the next day.

If you don't want to play Eve daily, why do you need a POS?

If you want to keep your POS, then log in and check on it daily. Its your pet. If you don't feed your cat or pay attention to it everyday, you don't deserve a damn cat either.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Two things.

First, keep Stront in your Tower, that buys you another day before you lose anything.

Second, Wardecs are for corps, Corps are designed to have many people, with roles, such that if your corp was dec'd and you the CEO was away, someone else with roles would be able to take the tower down, or, you know, put up a fight :)
The fact that individuals make corps for themselves, or don't give out roles isn't CCP's issue. They provided the tools to manage the risk, they even send you a mail when you get dec'd so you don't have to actually look in your corp page to see it yourself. And this is ontop of the fact they give you a day before the dec's go live. They give you more than enough time.

This should work for you:

  • Tools -> Options
  • General -> Updates -> EVE notifications -> 30 mins (default value)
  • Notifications -> New EVE notification -> Repeat until clicked and also have "Show" checked
  • On your pilot on the right side there is an "Advanced Features" icon. Click that and enable EVE notifications
  • You will get Wardec notifications, fuel low, there are many kinds (see a list here)

Unfortunately you can't have EVEMon email you when you get a notification.

Why do you want to play a game by not playing it?

PS: want to by a mining permit? Only 10 mil.
