Hey guys this is my first thread, just some idea's Idea.

With hacking, data sites suck with loot, most people (including myself) either just fail the hacks to despawn them or leave them as they are not worth the time VS isk/loot. My idea is how about hacking has a chance to escalate....so after you hack the can or while hacking the can either:

1) a message comes up telling you you have discovered a secret cache and that you have to now hack it if you want it but it overrides the current loot in the can (so you have to choose new loot and loose current can loot, or go for the new loot (which is still unknown), now this could be done by scrolling to a new hacking screen and maybe your virus coherence regenerates a little and you go again?

or

2) the other way is you possibly discover (for example) a blue node hidden away somewhere on the hacking board, so instead of going for the main core you can go for this new one..or maybe you need to hack both?

either way this would make people hack EVERY can due to the chance of getting a secret cache. But whatever the secret/hidden loot is you have no idea of knowing it unless you are successful, it does not show in any scanners.


other suggestions

2) With black ops (im waiting for the major changes/balancing for them to come along Big smile ) but what about if out of highsec or even low sec, the pilots name is not shown in chat? hence being black ops?

3) can we get a decent drone menu? wouldn't be hard i am sure? just a nice mini menu for drones?

i had a few others, but i lost the paper with them on it lol, ill add them as i remember them

+1 for the hacking escalations

-1 for black ops, they bridge in with a cyno so usually by the time you see them in local they have already locked you up

Hooray for new faces and new ideas.

I think hidden treasure nodes and hacking escalations are both great ideas.

I agree with Lan Wang, black ops covert cynos obviate the need for any special treatment in local for most purposes.

We've been asking for better drone controls for a while now. If you have a more specific idea please start a new thread highlighting how it would be implemented..

Also just in general I highly recommend you avoid multi-idea posts in the future since any one particularly controversial or classically overused idea can drag conversation away from other perfectly good ideas and sink the thread.

Loot could be better too if they stop people from scanning and cherrypicking what they want and leaving the site.
I shouldn't be going throw a site and finding all but 1 can empty and that 1 can was a piece of carbon

idk I'd just like it if data sites had a much higher chance of dropping faction bpcs. Relics are pretty good, but I'd really like it if they had RELIABLE drops. Ruins sites have a bad habit of either being fantastic treasure chests of goodies, or getting a few lumps of coal and sh*t else. Adding a decent faction module drops to relics might also be interesting, since it would allow for a more even distribution of wealth across different areas. I know for a fact that Sansha space is where it's at for relic hunting due to the plate drops, where Angel space is barely worth anything. Having a more even distribution of good loot drops would be ideal.

Thanks for the tips :) will do. Hopefully a developer gets a chance to read the hacking part!

I like the scanning idea's, would certainly make people do every can and also add an element of excitement when hacking. Atm sleeper caches are the only real exciting hacking sites

don't hack much but i do spend a lot of times flying blops or in a blops fleet


and currently they are fine as is one of the only well balanced ships (with the exception of the Sin who could use a bit of tinkering in its role bonuses)

each one fills a role useful in blops gangs and they do it very well w/o stepping on each others toes




generally when people want a blops re balance they want either the blops to get T2 resists/more dps or want the rest of them to become E-war platforms similar to the Widow (ocasinaly people want a combination of the two)


neither of these things are needed and the diversity in the class is what keeps its balance


if you want high tank you fly a redeemer/widow

if you want speed and alpha you fly a Panther/redeemer

if you want anti tackle support you fly the Widow/Sin


but above all Blops are their for the bridge and most of the time if you have a proper fleet they won't ever be uncloaked in a hostile system for more than the 30s to bridge and jump

I'm all for hacking escalations, and have mentioned in other threads that the sleeper cache code could be re-used in limited ways to make more difficult/interesting escalation sites. Escalation sites could include combat elements also to add risk or could escalate to pure combat sites based on discovered co-ordinates from hacked cans. Hacking rewards could even be a losec/nullsec cov-ops cyno beacon in another hacking site. This would take unsuspecting players by surprise when they warp in and realize they have to negotiate their way back out with their nice shiny loot begging to be stolen...
