If you're quitting Eve, why are you selling your character?

I see this fairly often in the Eve Bazaar, and I don't understand it. If you are quitting Eve, it doesn't make much sense to sell your character for Isk. Why do you need in game money to play a game you are quitting, why not just keep your character in case you play again. I can only think of two reason someone would do this, one being they are just selling the Isk in some illegal manner to get real life money. And second, I forgot because I have been drinking, but I am pretty sure I did have a second.

So they can give their ISK to UAE.

Maybe it's just one of many accounts they're quitting. Proceeds go to the remaining account(s).

You never really quit EVE. You just go AFK for a while.

You don't really quit when your stuff is waiting for you. So if you sell (or biomass) your alts, send ISK and stuff to some people you can leave. Because if you decide to return you will need to start from scratch. And it will demotivate.

Why sell? Maybe to give your friends something when you leave?

It's easier to distribute ISK to several friends than it is to distribute a character. Currently the only thing that can be chopped of your character and be given to another player is a prosthetic arm Ugh

a lot of players who quit and sell their characters will often take the isk and take it to the eve betting sites just to have some more fun etc.

Rude, Obnoxious and somewhat in you face.

I've done it a few times, trying to force myself to quit.

First and most obvious reason to get rid of your character is to try and go cold turkey, to make sure there's no character with high SP etc luring you back in. Not necessarily logical as such but it's an often used reason, and no apparently it doesn't work :P

One could of course also delete characters (I've done that as well) but there's always some person/entity you like for whatever reason that could use some cash (years ago we had Chribba's love cans for instance) and help, even though you're trying to distance yourself from it all.

It's also very much possible people are just lying and getting rid of their alts for whatever reason.

If I were to do that it would most likely be to sell everything and give it away to ensure I have absolutely nothing left to come back to.

I'd hate to see how vicious a bidding war over the name "Chribba" would be.

For the whole two days the game lives once he quits.

And in other news, the seige at the corporate headquarters to CCP Games is moving into its fifth day. Masked assailants, chanting the slogan "Chribba is ours!", are still surrounding the building as riot police...
