Unfortunately after I upgraded my trial account socket errors went rampant when there was none before, even upgradeing my internet has done nothing. Im not very tech savy in subscriptions how do you cancel it? So that when my time is up I dont get charged for a game unplayable due to socket errors that eve says cant help me with.

Log in at https://secure.eveonline.com/

Under the Game Time tab you should see cancel subscription. Your account will stay active until your 30 days are up so you can keep playing and trying to find a fix.

Thank you there was a tab in there for cancelling, didnt notice it before :) I doubt I can find a fix on my own without makeing it a full time job for a few days, and my love for eve has been tarnished when you get socketed 20-30 times in a hour for weeks.

There are some things you can try in the technical issues and workarounds. If you are using wifi has anything moved? (my damn dog keeps moving the table the router is on and if he moves it too far the signal gets blocked by a 2ft think stone wall)

Yeah usually it's on your end.

Ask some devs about it.

Home wifi could cause socket errors if you're using it.

Also, your internet provider could, too. Check the internet for tools that "test your connection" or call your internet provider for tech support, tell them your connection gets dropped intermittently.

When you browse websites it doesn't show, because the website just reloads any missing data bytes, but a game that depends on a stream of information coming at you reliably will give you those errors.

It's CCP's fault. Bye!

I dont know what it is thanks for all your replies though, I play multiple mmorpgs and this is the only one giving me issues, devs cant assist, internet provider no issues, no firewall issues, graphic issues. Switching to another port reduces socket frequency but the game lags and looks like ****, and still sockets. Maybe its just regional issues, that cant be solved.

Frequent socket close are usually a local problem.

For what it is worth, my experience and solution:

In the same thread a little further down is a spew I did on cabling:

I've seen so many poorly crimped connectors cause problems (I was an I.T. manager for 11 years for a company with a lot of branch offices = lots of cables and networking).

there's so much wrong with what you just said.

How can switching a port affect your graphics?

Don't know about graphics, but...

Some routers are known to have issues when using Ethernet port 1.

It has to do with the port being setup as an admin port in the switching chipset.

If you have not tried rebooting your router that should probably be your first step. Also not sure what you are doing but I read a forum post a while back about how clicking on links from unknown or unfriendly players like ( randos in local ) could lead to you getting DDoSed from said player. So if you have been doing that maybe try powering down your modem long enough for your IP address to change and then don't click on links for a while.

But why would eve be the only mmorpg thats effected by these issues but Wow, RO, other mmorpgs are not effected 1 bit, I get dcd maybe once a week of prolonged play on those games. Thats my only concern but I will try more.

And my upgraded internet is a fiber optic cable connected to the PC doesnt get more pricy then that...... No wifi, even has a secondary backup router incase the first one fails somehow on the same line, I went all out. My internet provider which is the biggest in canada doesnt offer anything more stable and faster or expensive then this package. (did this to replace old router etc with same problems as a solution to eve brand new everything cables etc) Iam literally stumped :/ unless its a file error or something....... The router even has its own coolant system and never gets hot!

Maybe I will get lucky and itll just go away :/?

Unlike other games, the EVE client tries to avoid the client and server getting too far out of sync = socket closed.

I can't remember the exact sequence, but it is something like a failure to respond within 10 messages (seconds).

One possible solution is to change your port number, but this will only help if your ISP is doing something strange (e.g. happens on college campuses).

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Problems_connecting_on_port_26000

If you are on cable (Rogers backbone, also used by other ISPs) during prime-time, you are just screwed. Cable is very congested.

None of that makes sense. Maybe have a real life friend who actually knows something take a look. Spouting gibberish will not allow anyone here to help.

Just in case there's something wrong with the game files, double-click the EVE icon and when the Launcher window appears, click the sprocket in the upper right corner, to open the Launcher Settings.

In the Cache tab clear all cached data.
In the EVE Client Settings tab, start the EVE Online Repair Tool.

If that doesn't fix the issue, go to the folder where the game files are (C:\Program Files\EVE Online etc), and start the LogServer application. Go File -> New Workspace. This will log every little thing that the EVE game does.

Keep this LogServer open, then start EVE normally and play until you get the Socket error, then close the game. Then in the LogServer, save the Workspace as something, and open a ticket with CCP and attach the log to the ticket; it will give them more information and they may be able to tell you where the issue is.
