So I have been doing exploration for a little while now and was wondering if anyone could answer a question that's been bugging me, what kind of commanders drop pirate implants?

I've run numerous sigs, and as far as I can remember, never gotten an implant out of them. However doing anoms I occasionally get one if a faction ship spawns, I have also gotten them out of belt faction ships.

So I guess my question is, do commanders in sigs drop implants and I've just been unlucky in that department, or are they limited to other faction ships?

It's been a while but I've found that the Commander spawns in the various escalation stages have a good chance of dropping Implants.

I've never seen one drop from a proper overseer but DMC is right: faction spawns in unrated sites seem to drop them with some regularity.

They drop from faction spawns, in belts or anoms, they can also drop from the faction spawn in the DED 8/10 (i don`t think i ever had one drop, in theory they should because it`s a faction spawn), not sure about the other DED ratings. The "overseer" drop from 8/10 or 10/10 will not drop a faction implant, just the deadspace loot and bpc

mid grade snake omega from some unrated serpentis site in low sec, provisional outpost I think it was. Faction shadow serpentis frigate spawn maulus hull.

I had one drop in some ded or unrated plex in hisec.
Don't remember wich one since it was a while since i was out exploring last.

ive seen 1 implant drop and it was a lower grade in a .6 asteroid belt

My first month in the game I got a Talisman implant from a 0.5 belt commander rat. I am pretty sure they could drop from anything but I know this was either a frig or a cruiser rat.

My friends who belt rat get them with some regularity from faction spawns.

I should clarify - I am talking about belt ratting in Fountain. You can get them from high sec faction spawns as well - once had a friend get the Snake Omega off one in Jel, but that was nearly eight years ago.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

I got a bunch of low-grade (mid-grade now) implants from belt rats in high/low sec, been a while since I tried that kinda stuff out though.

Clone jumped to Solitude last week to move some ships in and out of there to be better suited there, and since it was some time ago i used the Phantasm, that been collecting dust there, i undocked it to do some probing.
Found an Serpentis Vigil, from that Vigil and 2 escalations later where it dead-ended i was left with: Mid-Grade Snake - Alpha. Delta and an Epsilon.
So the RNG god was awake on that short time-span:)

So it looks like in general people believe it is the faction spawns that have them, but not the "overseers"? Seems to be what I have experienced, just wanted to double check Smile

Dunno what most of the noise here was trying to get at, but that's exactly my analysis, yes. Faction spawns, whether they appear in unrated sites, rated sites, belts, or gates have a chance at dropping implants. It's the same rat in any case. Overseers, on the other hand, do not.

i think you made as mistake and didn't ask clearly, that's why people tell you all kind of answers, "i got one in asteroid belt", "random is random" etc.

the question is: do commanders in scanned plexes drop pirate implants.

i live in null and as i remember i never had implant from a commander in a scanned plex.

All ship drop anything. Some item has very low or almost zero chance to drop. Playing from '06 i got two pirate implants in total...
