What will become of Fighter Bombers?

If Supers become purely on-grid fleet support units where will that leave fighter bombers? Will they be nerfed/ passed down to regular carriers or could we see them behave in a more supportive role instead of DPS?

I was set on training this skill but feel like I don't want to touch it until I know what's going to happen.

What do you think will happen? What would you like to see happen?

I'm not exactly qualified to answer speculative questions like this, but the keywords in your question are, "what do you think?". I would think it is best to hold off until you hear more directly from devs about what will become of them. I could be wrong though :)

Maybe they will move the fighter bomber assets over to Valkyrie?

I wish they would make them frigates. The models for fighters and bombers are so sexy. Better than any frigate currently available.

Is CCP planing on removing them? Or are you merely speculating that the removal of fighter assist will make them useless? If the latter is true, I'm sure there will still be plenty of situations where having supercarriers on grid will be useful. It's just that those situations won't involve any PvE.

Would be cool though personally feel like we have enough frigates as it is :p

Well in a recent interview it was hinted that Supers will be losing their DPS role and instead be an on-grid fleet booster. So I imagine Fighter Bombers will be fielded for other purposes if that's the case. Alternatively they could give them to carriers (obviously adjustments would have to be made). Maybe they will merge bother fighter and fighter bomber skills then refund the SP from fighter bombers.

And I just recently trained Electronic Warfare V on my main just in case he might use a SC one day :(
