You've just found the best place for learning about the game. Feel free to ask questions; the people who frequent this Newbie Q/A forum enjoy helping people out.

Unless you whine your ass off and then expect us to help.

That won't happen.

Ello,

Sorry to hear your bad experience. *Shamelessplug* Needless to say we do have an entire official volunteer division (Mine \o/) called ISD STAR. Anyone is welcome to message us at any time for questions that you might have. We do try to be on as often as we can but since we are volunteers we can't be on all the time. I usually answer mails as I see them as quickly as I can. *Endshamelessplug*

Now as other people have said there are lots of corporations out there both good and bad corporations. One thing I let new pilots know is not to rush into a corporation take some time and get to know the people before you join them. Try to make that personal connection before joining the corporation. If you have a bad feeling about something usually it's a good call to go with your gut.

As for Rookie Help being trolly/rude we (ISD STAR) has attempted to cut down on this but clearly as we can't be on all day every day and monitor it. We do our best to keep things inline but we have lives too! If someone is being rude or annoying you best thing to do is just right click > Block and boom no need to worry about them any longer. If the channel is really bad just file a harassment ticket (or whatever is best fitted for the reason) and let the GM team know.

If you (or anyone really) has any problems or questions about EVE or ISD feel free to shoot me an EVE Mail and I will get back to you :)

You will fall down a lot in this game but you will also pick yourself up and succeed in ways you could have never imagined.

Fake Edit:
Also whoever said something about a career student. I have been doing this for awhile now and I'm still a student of EVE. No one knows everything.

People are bad at detecting spies.

I put my spy alt in a corporation, declared war on it with my main and later got told on Teamspeak by the CEO of my corp that they'd had several obvious spies apply so they rejected them (no additional spies had applied).

With regards to wars. In high security space the current environment is such that aggressors in wars tend to be well funded, very well prepared, highly experienced, and extremely aggressive towards their opponents, whereas defenders tend to be either too poor or too greedy to finance a defense, very inexperienced (even if they tout extensive experience they are universally lying), totally unprepared and either totally passive (not reacting to a war declaration at all) or just blatantly cowardly.

You won't find many people who're actually willing to defend themselves in high security space who aren't part of dedicated PVP groups, most highsec inhabitants will either run and hide or get slaughtered like cattle when a war goes live. It is possible to mount an effective defense, however even when people have the necessary material they typically lack either the collective will or knowledge to make it happen.

Essentially if you're the aggressor, because defenders tend to be so passive and/or ineffective, you can get away with flying around in whatever you want with little regard for the threat posed by the defenders and hunt them like animals using neutral scouts and locator agents.

It's been like this for about 3 years.

Now, if only there was a way to contact ISD:STAR in general (like we can mail our entire corp in 1 mail, but then for outsiders) *Hints at CCP to add that, at least for ISD).

And then, if only new players were made aware of the existance of ISD:STAR.

I guess most of them don't even know you exist, the ones that do only know STAR as those teal/green guys out of (rookie) help.

You've just found the best place for learning about the game. Feel free to ask questions; the people who frequent this Newbie Q/A forum enjoy helping people out.

There's also plenty of public chat channels you can join in-game to get some real-time feedback to your questions. See my sig, or JPs (depending on whether you want things sugar coated or crammed down your throat Big smile).

There's also a player moderated help chat geared toward helping new players without the clutter of rookie chat. Believe it's called "Help Chat - Reloaded". Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks at forum signature.

You are not wrong.

p.s. For general help, I would even go as far to use HCR over my own channel. Mainly cause it's more active during all different timezones. But if you want, hop into mine and feel free to chat / ask questions.

Hey,

Im a new player myself and Im sorry that did this happen to you!
I have to say, my experience was the complete opposite.

The tutorials teach the basic stuff. Theres a lot more to it and you'll have to google it, but god damn to the tutorials, they are neccessary.

I did the tutorials, flew around in space got insulted by some random dude and invited into his corp by the same dude. Im in it since 2 months and so far it has been one of the best experiences ever.

Try to find a corp, even if you have to crawl trough assholes, it's totally worth it.
