Add a high slot module that adds selectable weapon models to all your weapon slots on the ship hull. They would have no other function than trick your opponent into thinking youre fitted or not fitted in a certain way. It should have little to no fitting requirement like a bastion module.

How close are you zoomed in?

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

^^this, i sometimes zoom in on my own ship for no other reason than i can, and even at a respectably close distance (ship takes up the screen end-to-end) i can barely make out what TYPE of gun i have fitted, id have to have the camera humping the ship like an excited chihuahua to see that

Don't look at your own ship. Look at someone else's.

I frequently look at other ships. You don't want to get too close to a brawling boat, but you definitely want to get within someone's personal space if they're rolling 1400mm arty.

you should be rewarded for taking the time to learn the models of weapons as well as taking the few extra moments before/during a fight to look at your opponent

And subsequently rewarded for taking the time to select an appropriate alternative model to fool your opponent into making a tactical error.
