I fit a Coercer to go out hunting frigs, however whilst the ship survived the night I couldnt hit anything, I guess the tracking is lousy even though i had a tracking enhancer II fitted.

Does anyone use Coercer solo? if so may I ask what fit you use and what sort of ships to you go for?

What lasers and what ammo were you using and what were you shooting?

Running solo, I've only had semi-success with this fit:

[Coercer, Nuke'em]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Stasis Webifier II

Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S

Small Energy Burst Aerator I
Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
[empty rig slot]

With level 5 skills...

- deals ~300 dps with Scorch out to ~15km (~346 dps overheated)... and ~377 dps with Faction MultiFreq out to ~5km (~430 dps overheated)
- flies at ~1700 m/sec (~2400 m/sec overheated)
- has ~3500 ehp

Tactics? It's pretty straightforward...
- burn away from your enemy, let HIM give chase...
- use Scorch until the target is in web range (10km)...
- apply web...
- while the target is momentarily processing the situation (because a Coercer shouldn't have a web?), switch to MultiFreq, overheat EVERYTHING...
- try to keep the target at a good 2000 to 4000m range and keep your trajectory parallel to him...
- if the target tries to flee, switch to Scorch and give chase.

The idea is to kill dumb frigates that give chase and kill them before they kill you... or realize that they can warp away at any time (yes, this is actually a thing).

Basically, this fit is relying on...
- the stupidity / oversight of others
- very smart target selection
- not being in the "thick" of things (you don't want to start an engagement at zero)

Outside of this VERY niche (and very stupid) tactic... I haven't really found anything that a Coercer can do that a Retribution (Tech 2 Assault Frigate) couldn't do better.

Thanks for this ill give it a try. I just wanted to have a go at pvp with all the ships in the game (T1 Cruisers downwards). I don't care if I lose it, just thought it would be fun, thanks for the tactics too.

Don't think I would ever engage a coercer solo in a frigate, far too much death incoming D:

A decent fit. I guess the enemy won't have enough time to get out because of ur dps and application just b careful when u web them because if they are aligning out to warp off u will speed up he process.

I've seen Merlins and Daredevils perform this tactic too (minimal to no tank, only webs, max gank). It is surprisingly effective in the FW-heavy areas.

But yeah... like I said before... it isn't the "smartest" tactic around. A lot can go wrong if the target is semi-competent.

Normal coercers look roughly like this:

[Coercer, nanopoint]

Heat Sink II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II

Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S

Small Energy Locus Coordinator I
Small Energy Locus Coordinator I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Pointrange is 24/28 OH, scorchrange is ~25km with 240dps. 2km/s cold, 2.7km/s OH. You usually fly them with literally everything OH from start to end. Hit keep range 21km on your target and odds are you got him.

Make sure nothing gets closer than about 16-17km ever.

Should get scorch and IN multi crystals. Conflag makes no sense.

^^ This. And if you want to play on the fact that people will try & close you down then pretend to be that but fly something like this:

[Coercer]

Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Heat Sink II
Damage Control II

10MN Afterburner II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I

Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S

Small Auxiliary Thrusters II
Small Auxiliary Thrusters II
Small Ancillary Current Router I

Keep at range 3km or so. Does 340dps O/H & still does just over 1km/s O/H even when webbed. Also a pod with snake implants works very well with Coercers in general.

I have a few kills with my No Point DD. With 500 DPs OH it melts stuff in few .. Most die before they notice they can warp out. I even smoked a Jag solo with it lol
