I had to take an extensive leave of absence, and while I was gone I decided I would train all the warfare leadership skills to V. (I have been gone long enough to get everything except wing/fleet command to V). I was hoping when I got back that I would be able to help out some friends, or perhaps be a booster for a corp that needs one.

Now that I am back however, I find that while I have trained the skills, I know little about fitting a ship for it. Could anyone point me in the right direction, give advice or perhaps some tricks of the trade? One thing I definitely need to know is do I have to train wing command and fleet command to be useful? Or can I be set as the booster without those skills? Also, I currently am 90% Amarr skills. All subsystems for the legion are V, but do I need to train for a different T3 as well? Same thing with the Command ships. I have Amarr BC V, and I am working on Command ships V, do I need to get a different race BC to V as well to be useful?

Thanks.

Depending on your ship you get a bonus to several different warfare links.

So

for CS:
amarr - armor / info
caldari - shield / info
gallente - armor / skirmish
minnie - shield / skirmish

and for T3s:
amarr - armor / info /skirmish
caldari - shield / info / skirmish
gallente - armor / skirmish / info
minnie - shield / skirmish / armor

If you think you're lacking something, you should train that aswell.

Wing commander is useful to have to IV, but that's about it. Unless your group is heavily into sov-warfare and you seriously consider playing the damnation in 10% TiDi, you won't need fleet command. Ever.

Common fits for T3s are centered about 4-5 links, cloak+nullification, rest ECCM and coprocs to make it fit.
Common for CS is a vulture/damnation. Vulture usually maxtank with 3 links, Damnation full tank lows and CB/mwd/AB/painter in the mids. Since people tend to use CS as anchors, they're not rarely fitted with smartbombs to give logistics some coverage against overzealous EC-drones.

What are you trying to do with it? Run as many links as possible and hide, or run 3 links and have offensive capability too? Help a small gang, or a big fleet?

Here's a recent video from a Brave FC that might give you some ideas.

this might also be of intrest.

personally i use a legion running armour and skirmish links with a cloak, combat probes and a mwd, everything els in the fit is there to get the links running.

im in high sec (generally) so i have no need for interdiction nullification but the t3 can offer that also if needed.

with this on an out of corp alt i can scout, find wartargets in space and provide a warp in and then boost (off grid) when the lads are in warp to the target

If you don'T want to use a virtue clone to probe an offgrid booster, you can also do this with a helios (w sisters launcher) and a AR-806.

All depends on who your boosting for. A skirmish booster for a major alliance is going to be expected to have WC5, and a Shield/Armor booster is going to be expected to have FC5 (or at least FC4). If your going to be the only booster for a small corp, you just need enough skill for the number of people you will be boosting. 10 people for every rank of WC, and you can technically booster 10 or fewer without rank 1.

As for T3s training, Legion covers Armor and Skirmish, (Covers info too, but few care about that). For shield you will want a Tengu. If you want to avoid multiple link ships, a Loki can cover any type of fleet, but the Tengu and Legion have much more fitting flexibility, allowing probe resistance, 4+ links, and oversized prop mods with much less fitting bling than a Loki running the same gear.
Command ships are generally disfavored in pvp outside highsec, due to headshotting, but if they are used, its generally Amarr or Caldari. But again, a lot depends on the details. Providing a neutral booster in highsec has very different considerations from providing a booster for nullbloc stratops.
