Ok thank you. Looked into that link, i will ignore that post from Anslo.
That was not nice and certainly not helpful.

To be fair FHC may help, but I wouldn't roll a new account and post there. Try get someone with an account there already to do so. If it's in the right place they'll be nice, if not they'll trip over each other trying to troll it.

My fault, sorry for the derail, I was poking fun at FH (they really are tramps). Don't worry, everyone abuses Anslo.

I was once looking for someone. The local authorities knew where he was, but they quite rightly refused to tell me. Instead, they shot him a quick message with my contact details, and suggested that if he wanted he could get in touch (which he then did). Would CCP really have an issue with sending your friend a mail suggesting he take a look at GD if he hasn't lately? Then it's totally up to him if he wants to respond, and no personal info has been divulged.

"Enduring", "restrained" and "ample" as designations for starship components are foreign to the genre of high-tech science fiction and don’t belong in Eve Online. (And as for “scoped” …)

CCP has been contacted already in this case. They pointed to the local authorities.
So either we contact the authorities of Jills city, or we find other solutions.
This is another solution.

But thank you :)
We'll try to contact CCP once more.

Let me venture a guess...usually when people have left no means to locate them, or pin them down, especially in the face of "years" of contact in a certain venue, it can be safely assumed this person has no wish to be located or pinned down. From what is being said about the person in question, if these people can be believed, this person has the intelligence and presence of mind to (even discretely) make himself available in some way. The fact that he hasn't should
speak for itself.

I understand admiration and affection have an impelling feature to them. However heartfelt this may be, it still remains had this person wanted to be located, he would have made it possible. This may be difficult to swallow, but there it is. It may even be the idea he would be pursued was a reason he did not leave a contact point.

I would admonish anyone who might happen to be able to contact this person in question to do that first and find out if he really wants to be located before you go about passing around contact information you may possess. To the others who are concerned, such is the life of the internet. It cannot be contorted to meet the expectations of real life. This may mean disappointment at times. It may, to others, mean security.

Vyl, I think no harm could come from some friends trying to make sure their friend is ok.

Bad things do happen to people sometimes and they are unable to communicate to others that they have encountered some misfortune. I think Jill's friends love him and care for him and they seem like they just have his best interests in mind. The internet is populated by a bunch of human beings, in the end.

How very true. How like the internet. Unfortunately, or no, Vyl's right regardless of sentiment. This person just might not want to be found, and no amount of self-aggrandizing proclamations of adoration trumps that. It's also very bad form to make an issue of it. But, it's so sophomoric, with this new crowd we have these days, it's not surprising in the least.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

It's nice to think that the community is looking out for each other. However, I take it you have no real life contact details for this person, which means they didn't want you to have any. Unless unfortunate circumstances are preventing them from logging in I think you ought to respect their choice not to contact you, and leave them be.

Not sure if I should tell you this...

I know a similar story from about 13 years ago from another gaming community. The fellow was tracked down in the end and discovered he had committed suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate bridge. His mother had recently died and then he lost his job as a game designer. That was the final straw for him...

good luck.

same happened to a group of us, one of our guys suddenly stopped loggin in, weeks dragged into months, then about a year later 3 of us decided to really look, luckily our mate registered an old forum for us, and one of the other guys lookin got lucky and got an email.

even luckier he used his familys buisness email to register the forum, traced the buisness and got a fone number.

his father told our guy who foned, our mate died on his motorbike the day he stopped loggin in.

i think we were fortunate to find out and to put a real name to our friend, than never knowing and always hoping you would see him log in again, but its always nice to live in hope!

I have found that when people drop off the face of the earth like that, they either had computer problems, internet problems or lack of funds. I would not jump to the conclusion that he has been killed or incarcerated, or even that he is avoiding you, though of course it is possible.

I'm glad I have rl friends who play Eve. That way if I ever die, go to jail, or run off with Jessica Alba (a long shot, granted), they can tell the rest of my alliance what happened. "Max is in Aruba with Jessica Alba".

A positive option at least.

Let's hope so :)

Reading previous posts I am aware of the 2 different sides on a matter like this:
1) the person in question really wants to be left alone;
2) something might have happened (good or bad).

Both are subject to speculation in this matter. And 2 things can be done:
1) do nothing;
2) do something.

If in case 1, my actions might not be appreciated. I totally took that into consideration before i started this topic.
But i'm not willing sitting around and do nothing while people being worried.

I still hope Jill is around there somewhere, read this and might consider to give us a proof of life.
After all...there are still people behind game chars, and being concerned about fellow players in my opinion is totally human.
A lot of players come and go, some stay, some leave. Some you'll miss, some you don't.
Jill is one of those that is missed and loved by a lot of people.

It might be 'sentimental' in some peoples eyes, but then again:
* Some people separate their gaming life from RL, by crawling into their chars skin and leave it behind when logging out,
* Some people consider their gaming life as a part of their social life.
There is nothing wrong with either one of those.
If Jill belongs to the first group, he totally won't care about this calling out.
No harm done there.
If he belongs to the second group, he will care and leave a message.
No harm done there.

This is a calling out to a person that is being missed, not a discussion about different game plays and why or why not this topic should have been started.
Like I said before; both possibilities are subject to speculation and I chose to do something, hoping that Jill is still ok and that he might contact one of us.

Thank you all for your support.

You sure have a lot of "ifs" in your posts. IF this person wishes to be left alone, that is the most important IF. IF you don't know, THEN maybe you should just let it ride since you have no way of knowing what the right thing is to do. IF you can't do that, get a book on etiquette. That could help.

Point already taken, and already taken into consideration.
I'm sorry you feel offended.

I made a decision out of all the IFS i could think of.
This seemed the best way.
I made my decision, which i'm still supporting.

IF not, then i hope Jill will sue me for this :) Or at least get my vindi to be blown up in an incursion site.
No regrets.

If you can't be helpful, please go somewhere else.

Thank you for your support tho.
