I know this has been asked before, but with recent updates and prior locked threads I'll ask again...

Is there any game mechanic (APART FROM AN OBVIOUS WARDEC) yet that combats the litter of abandoned POS's in hisec that is stopping others?

Nothing yet. How about:

File a complaint at CONCORD with a 50mil deposit. CONCORD sends out eviction notice with a week to respond and a reminder every day to the POS owner. POS owner can put up a counter notice and the eviction will be cancelled, deposit returned (minus fees) and the POS owner is immune for the reminder of that week (to prevent notice spam). If the week passes with no counter notice, the POS, all modules and all contents will be removed by CONCORD. The deposit goes into paying for that service.

That isn't a solution by itself.

and if the corp has been closed then you can contact the GM to remove it.

frankly yes it is, if you don't have the balls or manpower then you don't set up a POS, it's not a rocket science.

True. The solution is shooting the thing into a thousand pieces

In high-sec that requires a wardec.

Which is where you yourself have chosen to play EVE in the first place isn't it?

Not necessarily. There are many EvE activities that don't require PvP.

Anyway, case closed.. There is no new mechanic.

Regardless or not, if you want to remove a POS, then do it yourself. If it's offline it won't take very long at all.

Also you can hire a Merc corp to do it for you for a premium.

I wish CCP woud create some mechanic for this.

For example if tower is offline for 1 month it becomes vulnerable and can be destroyed without having to wardec.

I have to side with the War Dec Removal Option. Our glorious past is rife with examples of this technique working almost as perfectly as an Amarrian slave ship warping back from Heimatar.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

Just make seekers occasionally spawn at moons and agress POSes all over new eden. If they're not defended/active they will eventually fall.

Yes it is. In fact, it's the best kind of solution - a player mediated one. You know. Kind of makes sense in a multi-player game with a player driven economy. Stop being so lazy/helpless.

How about: If its been off line long enough, you can put it into reinforced with an Entosis link. If its off line and out of stront, an Entosis link will transfer it to your corp.

I don't understand what is so hard with removing a tower yourself, or hiring someone to do it.

I removed an offline small tower to place my first tower.

A friend soloed an offline medium tower in hisec with a Dominx and two new accounts in faction-bling fitted Coercers.

It really isn't that difficult.

It is a solution. One person in a battleship can take a small tower down in a couple hours, a medium in about 6 and a large over the course of a day. A small group of people in much less time. We are a two man corp who has downed a handful of towers without any problem. I fail to understand how people can't deal with this.

I was under the impression that you could just wardec the corp the tower belongs to and get rid of it yourself. It costs money and it's a load of effort but it probably works better than typing it out on the forum.

Grrr imbalance! It takes 1 person 1 hours to put a POS there and then it takes 30 people like an hour to remove it!

I'll throw in a tip too: Use a temporary corp to do the wardec & assault, then leave the corp when the tower is destroyed, and place your own tower. This way the tower corp doesn't have to worry about a war.
