Lag.... Any recommendations?

I'm having regular latency issues with Eve lately, including one instance where I lost a pod the instant I came out of a gate jump, I assume because I was actually on the other side floating in space like a helpless chicken while my PC was still playing the gate jump animation. It's just isk, but it really sucks to not even have a chance.

My regular ping to Telia.net is > 350ms and it spikes constantly, but given my location compared to the servers it's probably to be expected.

Can anyone recommend a good lag reducer service that works well with Eve? I've used Battleping in the past for other games successfully but I wanted to see if there is any particular service you all recommend.

Tranquility operates on 1-second intervals. So there's that.

You'd probably find that you jumped into a smartbomb gate-camp. They tend to instantly kill light ships and pods.

Edit: my bad, I had thought of it the other way round.

I haven't got any suggestions sorry.
But I don't think there's much you can do about it, and I don't think it's 'lag' so much as it is 'waiting for TQ.'

Nah it was lowsec and one guy in a Rupture. It wouldn't have been more then a second from the animation finishing that I was looking at my corpse in space. My overview had barely even caught up.

Once you jumped through and don't interact with the game you keep a gate cloak for 60 Seconds.
You can be de cloaked by external which comes closer than 2500 meter to your vessel.

With "interacting" i mean align, warp, activate modules stuff like that. I don't mean watching, as you can zoom out and verify how to escape or get an advantage out of the situation.

To reduce the Latency you could try a VPN, which will change your routing. In easier way it means instead of going way A you going way B which may would be faster Big smile

The worst of the latency (>500ms spikes) seems to be happening between me and Telia's side of things.

I guess there is nothing I can do, woe is me in my little pod. Back to PvE I go..

Going to try the VPN route using a service like Battleping. I'm just wondering if there is a service others use with Eve that has local exit points that work well. I just found out that Battleping does have some EU servers so I'm trying that for a bit.

I wish you good luck, a feedback would be appreciated.

If battleping solved your problem, i would add this information to my reply as "give it a try".

It does work for me.

Thanks mate, I'll give it a shot.

Also Pingzapper seems to be going ok at the moment in my testing.

You can as a paying customer yell at your ISP to fix their peering connections, unless you're in Australia.

this problem occurrs because you have lag units in your hangar. here's what you do:

1. Put the lag units(all of them) in the cargo hold of a Reaper. it has to be a Reaper. Minmatar physics or some bullship.

2. undock with the Reaper while it still has its stock civilian modules.make sure it also has a unit of tritanium as well, especially if the Tritanium is an Insurance "gift".

3. set your destination to Hek solar system.

4. Once you're in Hek, warp to the sun.

5. Jettison the entirety of your Reaper's cargo.

6. Once the jetcan is in space. keep it at a distance of between 2,000 and 2,500 meters.

7. open the can and combine the lag units with the tritanium using your civilian mining laser. the can will then explode, hence the required distance.

8. now you need to do this step as quickly as possible: eject from your reaper and warp to a station to acquire a replacement ship.

Note: now is the time to leave. you can stay in the system, but the explosion of the lag can will slowly spread to about 1,000,000 kilometers from the system's sun per unit of lag. if you were quick enough to get away, it should not affect you.

The lag released will linger and cause tidi within the blast radius, but the rest of the system, and the galaxy, should not be affected. if the lag somehow affects more than the expected radius, submit a support ticket to CCP.

After about an hour, all lag should dissipate and everything should be back to normal. I hope you'll find this guide helpful. fly safe o7
