Esc key not working (as well as all keyboard commands)

My esc key and all keyboard commands are no longer functioning. I can still type in game but I cannot use commands or get to the settings menu.

I have tried clearing out my cache and settings but the problem persists.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled eve and the problem persists.

Is there anyway to get to the settings menu using the mouse and/or changing the settings externally.

I can live with everything else but having the autolock on is making logistics nervous. I really need to figure out how to turn it off. Any advice is appreciated.

It was my mouse. I have no idea why but when I unplug my mouse esc key and keyboard commands work. Plug it back in and it does not. Strange, but its enough of a workaround for me.

Weird issue I have had on occasion on both my rigs. I think it is partially due to the 1.5 update and graphics "Fix"

Just to be sure, turn off Anti Aliasing in settings and see if that keeps it from happening again. Something mixed with the Degrading (over time) of the game graphics and other assets seems to be what is causing all sorts of wacky issues. 
If I helped you out, Technical Issue, enemy gank, popped your poor fit, hit the "Like" button.

I am also having the same problem. I can't even press enter to log into the game. Ive tried clearing cache, unplugging mouse, keyboard, and everything. Anti-Aliasing was already off. Its near impossible to play the game as a clicker!

Similar issue here. Sometimes ESC key stops responding. The "side effect" of it is bugged zooming. If you zoom out by holding right and left mouse button and moving the mouse - as soon as buttons are released, the zoom returns to "close-up".

I have the same issue on two different machines, both windows 7 64 bit and NVIDIA graphics. Have tried all of the same things as others, emptying cache ....etc. Tried the unpluggin the mouse but that didnt work for me. Any other suggestions as to what can be causing this and how to fix?

I am having the same issue on a new HP computer. I tried unplugging the mouse and that didn't work. I'm not a very computer literate person so I don't really know what to do.

I've also Just started experiencing this problem. There have been no changes to my hardware, and the client is fully patched and repaired but I'm still unable to use any keys outside of chat and search boxes.

Also having this issue. Keyboard commands do not work, only allowed to type in chat and eve browser, enter works there also.

Have tried all the state fixes, nothing has worked for me.


Also, I cannot edit keyboard settings from the login settings screen, they do not appear in the options window. I am unware if this was always so, as I've only edited in game before.

I am having the same problem and no idea how to fix it. I have tried all the fixes listed above to no avail. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Same problem here I thought it was incompatablity between my razor naga game pad and the g510 logitech game keyboard but changing to standard keyboard from microsoft still gives same problem.
I play other MMo's but the problem only happens in Eve online. I use Windows 7 64 bit.
Rebooting fixes for a random amount of time then it goes again.
Loose all shorcut keys and escape key.
Looking back at this fault on the forums there is a locked thread that refers to the same problem back in early 2011 so its not new. So CCP are you going to let it carry on for another year or 2.
