Im going to buy a new PC and im creating spec dedicated for EVE.

As i can read here: http://community.eveonline.com/support/knowledge-base/article.aspx?articleId=124 devs recommend i7 processor.

I wonder if its up-to-date, becouse we have new i5 processors (i5-4460, i5-4670) on market that are actually better than older i7 cpus.

So im looking for advice, are new generation i5's sufficient for playing, or you recommend twisting my guts to get i7 cpu? Is it worh?

(I would like to have smooth play on higher resolutions during bigger fights, so i guess there is some computing that cpu have to fulfill)

I don't think this is the right forum to ask this sort of question mate.
One of the technical feedback forums might be better, or even General Discussion.

i7 vs i5 = i7 hyperthreading (great for multi tasking), i5 no hyperthreading (some i5's do come with hyperthreading but not as good as an i7?) obviously there is more differences but i would buy an i7 because i use graphics programs etc, i7 may be better for also multi-boxing (i dont know)

Wrong forum.

But depending on model its only like 50-100 more for an I7. So skip on a couple packs of beer over the next week, and go for the I7, cause it will stay relevant for a bit longer than the I5 will.

Neither will be perfectly smooth 100% of the time. Depends which exact cpus you're comparing really, i'd be inclined to plump for the fastest clocked i5 rather than a middle of the road i7 and throw the change into ram/gfx.

I've no problems with a 3000MHz i5 and SSD.

If the video card can take over a lot of CPU work, the CPU itself has not too much to do.
I run all-high with MSI twinfrozer Nvidia GTX760 2MB fluently. In your PC there's no need for Titans. Blink
