if this happens then what about Rorquals? you want them too to be an all in one mining machine? Orcas are not miners, they buff miners, big difference

I was thinking about this myself and came up with an idea that could work.
Since most Orca fits use a tractor in the high slot, which isn't as important now with MTUs (though target selection is something you lose out on), that leaves a "free" high slot. Not many people use the capacitor link anyway.

So. Make a new module that uses that high slot. Kind of like the industrial core, or a bastion, or the others.

Requires Industrial Command I (needed for Orca and Rorqual anyway)
Can only be fit to Orca and Rorqual.
PG 200 CPU 100 (twice the fit of a link)
Limit 1 fitted.
Gives mining drones a 100% yield bonus per level of Industrial Command.

Boom. Done.
Even if you fit mining drone rigs (2T2 and 1T1), drone navigation and control range modules, and harvester drones (over 1 bil ISK), you're still not touching a T2 barge level mining. Might be at the T1 barge with three T1 strip miners if you max out the related drone and industrial command skills.

Not as good as a barge. Better than sitting there even more bored than the miners.

Quite frankly there's no room on the ship for the systems to support a mining laser (much less a strip miner) or the processing and loading systems that would need to go with said laser. The whole ship is basically a command deck welded to a bunch of cargo holds and a spacious area to serve as a maintenance bay for other ships.

There's no room for mining lasers and strip miners.

So you mean a massive "Nearly almost all empty cargo space" orca that's larger than any barge in existance, has no space for a few strip mining lasers and supporting equipment among all those empty cargo hulls? ...Pretty bad analysis

well thank you...

nope called a lone wolf because you want to play solo in a COMMAND CAPITAL ship, mining rocks......

That is not what it is for and nver should be. It is for the Boosting, combat drone support, and ability to hold some ships for possible combat or what not have you. It is a support and Command ship. The other thing it does well for a Fleet is have cargo room for the entire fleet to put its rocks into.

No you can not have mining lasers on an Orca, get a barge/exhumer and have it.

Or... sell the Orca or give it away, if you don't intend to use it for what it's actually good for Shocked

understood,

but is it not asking a judge..... to go driving a mini van instead ....

it is all about possibilities

dont think personal..... think about the game

The orca is a support vessel. Sure, you can mine it, but it misses the point.
Think of it this way: sure, you can drive a mini-van at top speed down the highway, but to complain to the manufacturer that your mini-van was outpaced by a Lamborghini is a bit silly.

Now, if you are going to mine in an industrial... I would suggest fitting TII miners onto a Miasmos and mining in that. Or, if you care about volume as well as capacity, mine in a tanked Retriever. If you mine in an area with gankers, use a Procurer or Skiff.
The correct tools are in the game, but asking for a capital mining laser (ah... yes, I would not mind one myself) just to use your Orca like an Uber Hulk is like saying your saw needs a flat end so you can hammer nails.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

Well i think you have a wrong idea about the interpretation of the term Multi - Player game

in my eyes a multi player game is a game where you CAN play with other people in a sandbox

but that does not mean you play it together all the time ..
i am more on my own with no members to play with, because they are at work or sleep...

you can also play it on your own
with just one account
on your own in a belt, with no other corp members around

with one account you can :
you can pvp on your own
you can do pi on your own
you can do pve on your own

but mining is a hell .....on your own

i do really think that young miners are in need to the opportunity to grow in their mining profession
(otherwise why is their a mining faction, called the gallente.... miners by birth)

personal,i am at the end of the line and on a normal day i earn about 25 mil of isk in HS (when i am not ganked or disturbed)

it is in need of more diverse ships
or a (bigger) multi purpose ship

some thing has to be done, and i am not going to wait another year there are more games on the horizen.
