Since it seems that I cannot post this in the Corp section (no new topic option appears) I'll have to put this here.

I'm planning on starting up my own indy corp focusing on mining and making smaller T1 ships and equipment (cruisers, dessies and frigs) I've already got a fair amount of BPO's researched on my main(who will run the corp) ready to go. Now I can spend a very large amount of my time doing this solo, or I can create a corp and make new friends, teach some noobs how to play and share the wealth.

Personally, Eve is a lonely game if your solo all the time, so I'd prefer to start a corp. I've done this a few times in the past, met a large amount of failure due to untrustworthy people and bad personal choices. I don't want to make those mistakes again. I'd rather open up a small discussion. How do you run your Indy empire?

For myself, the last time I tried, I put the bulk of my own personal isk into the corp wallet, later on when I removed it to purchase an orca for the corp (although I was the only one I trusted to fly it) I was blamed for using corp funds for personal gain. My directors called me quite a few not so nice words and took off with most of the other players. So for me, I've learned that it's best to keep your personal and corp wallets separate. What kinds of mistakes have you guys made when starting up a corp and how well did you recover from them?

Everyone feel free to share some silly stories of your past trying to start your own corp!

I once kicked one of my alts from a corp because she was so butt-ugly.

I've never started my own c... oh wait yes I have.

One was Kaalakiota Command Solutions, which had all of my warfare and mining booster characters. I discovered that was a bad idea when it got wardeced. Not only that but they dropped into Ministry of War which is cooler anyway (for a warfare booster).

Another was Solstice Systems Development Enterprises, the purposes of which were to troll a former CEO with the name, and instant jump clone standings (via the founding character's standings).

Team Evil is my roommate's corp that I like using because it has a cool name. Plus it has more history than I've been playing EVE, and he lets me do whatever with it.

I started a scam indy corp with a low sec research tower and then left the game for a year. When I came back there was close to 20 billion worth of blueprints impounded in my corp hangar.

My advice is keep your blueprints out of it, and secure those the best you can--which means not having anyone else in corp with you.

If you want to do the scrub small corp social thing, good luck... you'll only get three types of players: AWOXers, Thieves, and players who don't know any better. Everyone else will look at your setup and see a typical small failcorp.

Not insulting your intentions or your work ethic, that's just how players will react to you.

Zombie Momma, I have to tell you this: you know how things work on the internet. It's okay for you to be a zombie. Kind of hot, even. Maybe.

But there's no way I'm going to believe you're a girl, let alone a mother. That's just too crazy.

Also, I started a corp for myself and a few friends. Now it's just me and my alts because there are even fewer friends on the internet than there are women.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

I started a corp once but immediately closed it about two hours later once I realized that it was a horrible idea.

Hello

I am currently building a massive High sec coalition. This is mush to the amusement of my fellow eve pilots but slowly I winning more of them over with the casual atmosphere that The Scope Project radiates and general fun

in saying that if you think a corp is a bad idea...oh dear

Me and my peeps try to get out every day and give the noobelahs some pvp time but my lawdy do we seem to **** people off and I have my theories

1- I refuse to pull my main of the best corp ever- Scope
2- I have refused lucrative offers to lead all my peeps and burn them in a system
3- I have declared myself the Overlord of Np corps and the Guardian of Noobelahs
4- I happily chat to gankers and anti ganker in order to restore some easy going rivalry between them and stop the crazy ass crap that's going on there.
5- I have actively encouraged pilots who come back to high sec to stay after dealing with the oft time grim reality that is Null and Wh space
6- few blues and we have a new alliance...scary combination it seems

Basically I want peeps to have fun again and this can actively annoy people oh and we find dead and griefed corps and liberate them from their bonds helping with game pilot retention

summery- it hard but it is a social game so it has to be done or people will continue to wander aimlessly thrue mmo mmorpg ect never really enjoying it

I started a corp with an alt, had some RL friends, some other good newbies and such, nothing good or bad to say about it. It died when I had to take an RL break from EVE.

Going a bit off topic:
D&D guild - pointless waste of time.
Anarchy - had two corps, should have kicked the dissenters out rather than leave and make a new one, they quit not long after anyway. (Both grew and matured rapidly because we did something weird, everything we looted and couldn't use personally, we offered to the group).

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

I started my own corp when the first corp I joined started to die. I had already been playing off on my own anyway, never had much of anything to do with my corp mates. I made my own corp rather than join another one because I didn't want to be beholden to anyone else or their goals. I closed my corp to new members because I don't want to feel like I have to entertain anyone. I did allow one of my alts to join, but she leaves me alone and doesn't even talk to me so it's all good.
