I am an explorer who regularly enters wormholes to find profession sites to do, as well as enter other null sec regions. However sometimes my connection can become quite unstable ie i get a socket closed every 5 mins. This has happened a number of times were i have scanned down 8/10 sites of a wormhole, and i get socket closed only to have to rescan those same damned sites again........ I would suggest as a solution to this as this is technically speaking not my fault, that there would be a grace period were when you log back in, the sites are still scanned down. Perhaps 15-30 mins, not to the point were someone logs of one day and logs in the next day to get most sites still scanned down.

Bookmark the interesting sites, and write the signature ID:s down so you know which site is which.

Wormhole professionals tend to use chain mapper tools such as W-Space to automate bookkeeping of both signatures and wormhole connections.

as Godfrey mention, just bookmark every site with an ID (ie. ABC Unstable Wormhole).
I do that, despite me just roaming around while living in lowsec, and it work wonders.
And even tho you only stay in a WH for half an hour, using WH mappers like Tripwire is still a good idea to map your journey :]

Actually, bookmarking the sites with their IDs and types is common practice on W-Space and canbe done in a few minutes, even if the hole is deemed not interesting. I'd recommend you give that a try, specially now that IDs don't change after Downtime.

One would think that an explorer would be good at searching, and that said searching would lead him to find the other 50+ identical threads to his.

Reported for redundancy.

Some good suggestions have been made on how to track your exploration efforts.
